Detroit: Don’t panic

By Katherine Helmetag

AKA atomicalex

I’ve been keeping my head up for weeks here in the D, but even I’ll admit: it’s getting ugly. The amount of hate being directed at the USOEMs is pretty amazing, considering the love that’s been shown to the financial sector. Local news station WWJ’s Automotive Insight editor John McElroy took to the airwaves yesterday and begged listeners not to panic in light of the resistance in Congress. From my seat on the inside, I can see how close things are to turning around. I hope they get a chance to—there’s some killer stuff waiting to come off the line.

The big three is getting what it deserves, the best thing is not to get one single dime from me (the taxpayer) the UNION is to blame for everything in the auto industry and then they have the nerve to say we won’t do anything by ways of cutting wages, okay then if I was running the big three all factories would be shut down for 6 months and then all of you auto workers can collect unemployment and then just before you were going to return to work I would shut down for another 6 months and then in the mean time I would be ramping up production at my Mexico and China plants, so you still think they can’t run without your UNION help, think again you MORONS

I think some of the executives should take some pay cuts, BIG pay cuts.

I think it’s too late Detroit is in a panic. But, I agree, there is some exciting new product, I hope it gets a chance.
