Amoco Ultimate Favorite: Rat Rod CRX

I’m really loving entry # 1284, a rat rod CRX.

Bought this car from a guy that was taking it to a scrap yard. I payed $800 for it and started restoring it. After three years its almost done. I did a 95 del sol motor swap then turboed it with a homemade turbo kit I put together. Its making just over 200HP and is a blast to drive on the street.

There are still more chances to win, so if you haven’t already thrown your hat into the ring, make sure to enter the Amoco Ultimate Your Car Is Worth It Photo Contest!

I had an 88 and 89 crx and never thought about doing a rat version out of them, not a bad idea at all.

Great little cars. I’d probably still have mine if some kid hadn’t ran through a red light and totalled it. Kinda cool the he got 200hp without performing an engine swap, too. JC – HondaExplosion.com

like choppers have become so passe’ now that every dr and dentist harley wanna-be owns them, the rat rod look is going to be the same thing; granted, you take a $250k lambo and paint it flat black, you have made a statement, but then, at least the paint is applied correctly and the seams all blend in well, unlike this rolling travesty

lovin’ the oversized steelies and low pros. That’s a combination that’s very rare indeed.

rat rod is all good; just question it when you use 26″ dubs and fart-can ricers…i love well done rice-cars, but on the verge of being a 799.95 overpayment for a worn out civic, i think at least an earl schribe paint job would have been wiser

I kinda like the rat-rod look applied to later-model cars. The paint on my ‘68 Fury is getting bad enough that I’m going to have to do something about it soon, and the all-flat-black thing is something I’ve considered as an alternative to the hideously-expensive strip-prep-prime-repaint I’d like to give it.
I’m not painting my chrome Magnum 500 wheels red, though.
