Ford doesn't want our money. They want to go it alone.

I could understand the hesitation for the oversight, but you have to remember these are our tax dollars... what is it something like $16 billion? I for one would like to know they are using some of my tax money to help their company in a responsible way and not just blowing it on exectutive retreats or big payouts for top execs. If it was money they earned then fine i dont care how they use it, its their money. But in the end its not their "hard earned" money so i agree with some oversight into how they spend my tax dollars.

I wonder if Toyota will furlough any of its American workers. They have done that in the past, put them on public service projects at full pay instead of letting them go, but I believe that was for retooling, different circumstances indeed.
-
Ford, unfortunately has much to chop to better align their product lineup with current demand. What gave them profit in recent years is not going to anymore.
-
Between the Big 3, A lot of workers will have to change fields, 'cause Pep Boys and the like only have so many positions and they don't pay as well or have equivalent benefits.

Smart management yes, but rough for those on the chopping block.
