Dakar Rally: Worth Watching

By Ron

aka WayTooFurious

Despite the fact that I am a car nut I have never really been into motor sports. I find things like F1, WRC and Nascar interesting, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to watch them. The one exception to this is the Dakar Rally. I love the Dakar because of the variety of vehicles and the raw emotion that is involved with the series. As you all probably know the Dakar has been moved from Africa to South America for security reasons. Despite this it looks like the race is going to be just as challenging or even more challenging than it usually is. The event will start in Buenos Aries on the 3rd of January and will have competitors crossing a variety of terrain such as the Atacama Desert and Andes Mountains, covering 5000km it ends back in Buenos Aries on 18th of January. Get all the details here. As always I am going to be backing the Volkswagen team. So who are you going to be cheering for?

530 teams, 188 cars, 230 bikes, 30 quads, 82 trucks, 49 nationalities …..and a lone crazy mountain man with an 87 sube…driving from the north pole. It is a favorite race.
