Here's Why You Should Never Run Over a Mattress
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
The owner of this vehicle came in complaining of a “shimmy” at high speeds. I guess 60 pounds of wire wrapped around the driveshaft will do that. More pics after the jump!

OH MY GOD YO!!! You didnt notice the mattress that you hit? like WTF!! If I ran over a pine cone I would make sure that it wasnt under there! Holy crap you are freaking stupid! Not to mention the fact of the people honking and flashing their lights at you probably letting you know something is wrong! You obviously dont deserve a drivers license and honestly deserve to be shot on sight! I cant believe there are people like you who have a license. What ever happened to the old habit of checking your ride before you got in it or after you drove it!?!??! I mean come on!!! My car would drive better on its own than you can! You should surrender your license and just become a monk or something! all I can say about this is WOW! Your an idiot!

Probably best to pull the driveshaft and replace it. There’s no way I’d run the same driveshaft after that. Would make cleanup go a lot easier, too.

When I see this I think someone was careless with his pickup’s cargo.

Hard to believe that the only complaint was a shimmy a high speeds, dosen’t say much for how it drove without the 60 lbs of mattress wire I guess!
Probably makes a decent street sweeper though!

In 1984 my Mother was on the freeway behind a truck when a mattress fell off the back of the truck. She couldn’t avoid it and drove over it. It got caught in the rear axle of her 1978 Pinto. She pulled over and got out. As she was looking the car over, the catalytic converter apparently lit the mattress on fire. The car burned to the ground, and without being hit from behind!
