Hater Fodder: Pink Carbon Fiber?
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
Need some automotive comedy? Something we can all unanimously hate on in unison? Look no further than this pink Hummer now for sale on Autotrader.
Whoever built this car managed to simultaneously turn me against two things that I love: carbon fiber and Takashi Murakami.
On the interior of this monstrosity they managed to get what looks to be pink carbon fiber, presumably carbon fiber sticker. Now, just the idea that someone makes pink carbon fiber is already hilarious in my book (and no, it didnt come from Yashio Factory).
Then, they plastered the interior with Louis Vuitton pink leather which uses one of Murakami’s flower patterns he did for Louis Vuitton. But wait, there’s more…
Yes that’s right, a pink skid plate. And pink suspension components. I can’t imagine the shop’s reaction to this as they were asked to make a pink skid plate and to pink powdercoat the sway bars. If someone asked me to do that, I’d just need to turn away the business on the principal of it.
So the question is… will someone actually buy this now that it’s on sale second hand? Is there more than one crazy person in this world who needs something this gaudy?
Hate on.

Seriously guys? Weight reduction. ITS A FRIGGIN’ HUMMER. It isnt getting better fuel economy by shaving 5 pounds out of the interior. Also OMG this thing is ugly. Its a disgrace to the reason Hummers were built.

doublec4 that’s FAKE carbon fiber so your weight reducing speech that you gave is null! and so what if it has a skid plate, it still looks like a brick, the MPG gains are going to be of 0.003% and the weight is not what makes this car guzzle gas, more than likeyly is the engine and driving style.

its carbon fiber VINYL meaning its still the H2 dash under no carbon fiber is used just a sticker to give the look, itll still weigh the same if not more now.

Didn’t you guys know the use of carbon fiber on the interior panels is for weight reduction. It offsets the weight of the rest of that truck, so gas mileage isnt an issue anymore.
The pink skid plate makes it more aerodynamic too. A stock Hummer has the aerodynamic properties of a brick, but when painting the skid plate pink, it changes the aerodynamic profile so that it is more “slippery.” I know, it’s complicated math so I’ll spare you guys the boring details.
This thing should out-perform and out-style the best of whats on the road today. Truly a britney spears mobile, the dream of bimbo trophy wives and dumb ballin broads everywhere.

Don’t know which is more expensive, the cost to modify it or the cost of gas just to drive it around.

you tell us to respect others an their rides an dreams/ideas, an here you are saying youd give up buisness cause someone mentioned they wanted pink on the suspension. then proceed to tell us to hate on. what do you have that compares to this? that has this much attention to detail and thought? that reflects who you are not those around you?

Obviously a guy isn’t going to like it. If you don’t like it, than don’t look at it. It’s a girls car and i’m sure any girl would drive it.

It’s actually not that bad; I mean it’s not my style but the work seems to have been done well. I can see a woman rollin’ it.
It’s not the first one I’ve seen. This is the SUT that I saw in person, out here in the Cali show circuit.

yeah they make kits for it and that’s exactly how it looks! I used to know the website and if I find it I’ll PM it to you. they have wood trim, carbon fiber and marbel stick ons.

Yeah but Nes, look at the air vent part of the dash. That’s one hell of a stretch to get around that and still conform. It looks like it’s one piece. Maybe it is fake but if it is I want the film maker’s website. Sure as hell ain’t gonna buy it in pink, probably not even in carbon fiber but if they got something else that I do like I’m buying…

GT I’ve seen some stick on carbon fiber and trust me it does look as good as in the picture.

Dec 20, 2008 at 8:02 pm
This can’t be stick on, unless the appliques were heat-formed and this was a mind-numbingly good installation. Even with a heat gun, you’re not gonna get sheet stock vinyl to do what’s in these pics.

They actually sell this stick-on carbon fiber over at pepboys, you get the carbon fiber look but the color under it shows through

No joke that’s exactly the same thing I thought about the cluster when I saw the pic i assumed from that pick it was an 80′s military hummer redone

I was horrified by the instrument cluster that came stock. Seriously, that’s what it looks like? I would have sworn it was for a car built in the 1980s.

Honestly, aside from the horrid Louis Vuitton print, it’s not half bad. Yes, the skid plate looks dumb. But the pink suspension components look kind of cool and the pink carbon fiber is just plain bad ass. Sure, if you don’t like the color pink it’s gotta be a nightmare. But imagine if it was in your favorite color? I’m sure it’d probably be 100 times more appealing. Can’t hate just cause you dislike pink. Just get rid of that stupid Louis Vuitton, they should stick to what they do best and leave our cars alone.
