What Did You Do This Weekend?

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

I mostly just sat around and watched the snow melt, but I did manage to take my daughter to see Bolt. Turns out that Pixar has been showing a new short film along with Bolt called Tokyo Mater, which is basically Cars meets Tokyo Drift. It was pretty hilarious. Anyone seen it?

Anyway, what did you do this weekend?

Almost everything melted this past weekend, the previous week it was single digit temperatures….Saturday it hit 50 degs. I hung around and started a new page for my Volvo and got my “Mobil-On” a bit.

This kind of weather sucks…..Tons of snow, and then it all melts!

Drove from Penna. to Georgia, 750 miles early morning on the 24th. Took 11 hours, normally a 12 hour trip. Made it back in my 2nd best time ever… 10.5 hours. We ageraged 71.5 miles per hour… and that included a half-hour stop at that quintessential I-95 tourist trap (“South of the Border”) a gas stop and two pee stops.
-
Don’t bash me for the speed though. I was basically keeping pace with traffic.
-
I enjoyed wearing a t-top outside even at night down there, but I do hate the long ride.

Had to jump start the Jeep at Wal-Mart, my dad killed the battery. We had a lot of fog here as well, kinda creepy-cool watching it come off the scattered ice were there wasn’t to much fog.

alot of fog here too. found a strange small puddle that smelled like gas, acted like oil and still isn’t dispersed yet on the ground near my gas tank….then I remembered how I baffled 99% of a popular subaru forum: a word called “physics”. Just add steel and 60kpsi welds to an 80s subaru that survived. It takes 365 days for the soul-less car to get over it. custom rodders relate, it keeps my integrity sane.BTW, there is no leaks….kinda spooooky.

Chased some POS Audi on the highway. Didn’t let him go until he turned off though!

I don’t remember what I did other than check the engine to see for any problems, and thank god I don’t have any. I was going to remove the front tint do to a damn fix-it-ticket but got lazy and didn’t do it. then last night went to my friends b-day party and raced (yes i know racing is bad) some late 90′s Lexus and smoked him/her couldn’t tell who was driving.

I wanted to take my kids to see Bolt, they informed me they were not interested, I guess we have rounded that corner of that age group. Would like to have watched the snow melt, but it was way to foggy. In some patches you couldn’t see a couple of feet in front of you, it was quite creepy. Checked out a new Ducatti Dealer, very cool bikes.

Bolt eh?

My girlfriend and I have an inside joke that she is the hamster in that movie. Hahaha.

This weekend I officially changed mechanics, booked a transmission fluid/filter change for the Silverado for Wednesday, and changed the oil. 5L of NAPA Premium 10W 30 and NAPA Premium filter.

Also, I added my family heirloom suicide knob to the Rubber Ducky’s steering wheel. Will have to post pics. of that shortly.

I got my beast-ass ’88 camry stuck in mud, and picked up some cassetes.

I took on a flooded road, PASSING an explorer.

And I later hit the same puddle at 40, got moisture in the distributor, and got stranded for a bit until it dried out.

I stopped near a ’72 firebird that has been sitting in a driveway forever, so it wasn’t total FAIL.

I watched the snow melt too, no really it was weird, Friday and into Saturday there was a load of ice you couldn’t even go out side with out slipping. Then later Saturday into Monday the Temp warmed quick rained A LOT and now there is absolutely no ice and it feels like later February. Believe me if you seen it you’d understand.
