How do you like the body kit and paint on Ghanim’s M5? Looks like he maybe customized the Hamann kit?

CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot: The 1963 Studebaker R2 Super Lark and Super Hawk
By Jim Brennan
aka UDMan
Welcome to the CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot, a regular feature which aims to expand the notion of what a muscle car is, and to have some fun in the process. Today’s feature is one of the last gasps of greatness from that great South Bend, Indiana carmaker, Studebaker. This entry into the Parking Lot isn’t just one model, it is actually two, powered by the same engine, that could be ordered directly from the factory in any Studebaker produced at that time, including the Lark, the Gran Turismo Hawk, and the new Avanti. Murcielago Crushes the 599 on CarDomain

Well, this week’s Showroom Showdown wasn’t even close. The vote was nearly 3-to-1 in the Lambo’s favor. I personally prefer the Ferrari, but I wouldn’t mind the Lambo, especially in matte blue.

Killer Gearhead Toy!
By Brian Lohnes
BANGshift.com
We spotted the link to the Dragmasters die-cast dragstrip in a post on our forums and checked it out. We ordered one within 6 seconds of seeing the demo video.
It’s a long, gravity-feed dragstrip for Hot Wheels and similar small toy cars. No big deal right? Wrong. It’s got a working tree, you launch the cars by hitting a foot pedal, each lane has its own timer, and there are functional win lights at the “top end” of the track.
This thing could be ruinous to the blog output of a certain blog outputter who is outputting this blog right now. It’s winter here, cold as hell, and we’re always looking to stay occupied. This baby is just the ticket (thanks for the tip Cool Newell). Check it out here.
Orange Krate Wins Our DUB Contest!
By Rob Einaudi

Man, Bud’s Mustang almost seems unbeatable. In the last twelve months he scored SOTW, won our Castrol Power 32 contest, won Showoff of the Year, and now he just won the DUB contest! Some people commented that his ride doesn’t seem to fit the general mold of DUB magazine, but keep in mind that Bud’s Mustang was selected as a semi-finalist by the editors of DUB. So congrats BUD! Looking forward to seeing your ride in an issue of DUB!

Rusty Hood Trend

As far as I can tell it started with the VW crowd, but now it’s spreading to the Honda tuners, too. Anyone know what’s going on here? And what do you think? Like it, hate it, indifferent? I’ve got a ton more pics after the jump. Oh, and if you want to do it to your car, here’s how!

Is This Car Really Worth $175,000?
By Ron Honig
waytoofurious
I came across this Plymouth Fury on E-bay the other day. There is no doubt that it is a sensational car because it looks like a lot of time and money has been spent on it. What I find interesting is that the Buy It Now is set at $175,000. Is it really worth that much? Personally, for me, it’s not. With cars it is very easy to get excited about a project and over-capitalise. It reminds me of a client that we had when I was selling cars for a living. He had invested thousands in doing up a standard Ford Falcon. He had installed a racing motor and racing gearbox as well as various other bits and pieces. The problem was that we could not take it as a trade in because he wanted too much money for it. Also he would never get back the amount of money that he had invested in it by selling it privately. I don’t know what he did with his car in the end, but I do know that he was very disappointed because it was not as easy to sell as he thought it would be. So have you ever over-capitalised on a car?

Fiat X1/9 Across the Street

I’ve always been a fan of the X1/9, and I really love this one that’s been parking across the street from CarDomain headquarters for the last few months. I finally snapped some pics of it this morning (it’s pretty foggy out there right now). Those little fender flares look sweet. A ton more pics after the jump!

Modulo S2000 Concept Car: A Detail Nobody Noticed
By Ben Schaffer
Bulletproof Automotive
Honda Modulo released a concept S2000 at Tokyo Auto Salon. Personally, I thought the car was really ugly. The chunky design reminded me of a Lamborghini Reventon, except a totally uncool and ugly one. The rear of this S2000 is especially awful and I’m glad to not be showing it to you.
However there was something totally amazing about this S2000 that almost nobody caught. Look at the gauges. Being an S2000 enthusiast and owner, this blew me away. They replaced the entire cluster with a full LED screen that has two modes, the classic tach-centric view that S2000 owners already know and love, plus this split view which is a more conventional readout, with the ability to toggle between the two totally different views. That cluster totally makes the car special to me, its a product that I’d love to get for my S2000! Unfortunately Honda Modulo never releases any products…oh well.

Eibach Meet 2009
By Speedhunters
Car Culture at Large
Rod pointed out to me that there was a big meeting over at the Eibach headquarters in the USA. After some searching I found a whole bunch of nice pictures from some members on the NWP4LIFE forum. Looking at the pictures I’m really jealous, the pure quality of the builds is something I can only dream of seeing here in Holland. I used to drive a EG and a EJ and had lots of fun with both of them, they also opened doors for me. I could also say that my first steps into tuning cars were made with those Honda’s. Enough of this nostalgia, let’s have a look at some of the cars that caught my eye. Continue reading at Speedhunters

Detective Work Reveals Special (If Not Confusing) History on Project Ferrari 308 GT4
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
I’ve made it a habit when buying collector cars to go through the vehicle nose-to-tail in search of any parts, records or interesting stuff. Although the Sound Classics’ project Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 didn’t give up much in the way of interesting stuff (unless you consider a Walnut Creek Ferrari dealer license frame and large and delightfully cheesy nylon pillow that looks like the Ferrari badge interesting), I did find the original owner’s manual billfold to go with a small folder of recent receipts.
It was when I opened the owner’s manual billfold that I got a big and totally unexpected surprise: a complete record of service invoices and documents from the day it was sold new, including the warranty booklet and original sales form. The car’s biography starts with some uncertainty: its serial number (12500) and build-date plate indicate a build date of June 1976, but the car shows on its title and sales paperwork as being a “1975” model car. Less out of the ordinary, the car was originally sold by Ferrari of Los Gatos, CA in 1977 as “new” with just north of 2000 miles on it. This original owner, Dr. Binder, kept the car until selling it to James Young (probably no relation to the coachbuilder of Rolls-Royces of the same name) of Palo Alto in 1982. Continue reading…

Audi RS6 vs Classic Quattro
iMOTOR
Let’s compare some numbers for the original Audi Quattro to its spiritual successor, the RS6 Saloon. Power: 220hp vs. 580hp. Cylinders: five versus 10. Turbos: one compared to two. Liters: 2.2 versus 5.0. Everything seems to have at least doubled. My, how times have changed. But, have they really changed for the better? Check out the iMOTOR video review to find out
