Fond Memories Are Made of This
By Ron Honig

I was having a drive in the Plymouth today when I had to stop and take a look at this classic Ford. Besides needing a paint job it looked like a nice solid car. It really put a smile on my face, as some of my fondest childhood memories are associated with a Ford XP similar to this one that belonged to my father. In particular, I can remember one night when we drove into town. I could not have been more than four or five years old and I thought that it was fantastic that we were driving around at night. I stood behind the driver’s seat for the entire trip talking my fathers ear off. The model that my father owned was a Falcon Futura. We kept it for years and eventually it became mine til I sold it about nine years ago. It’s still a decision I regret. So do you have any fond childhood car memories?

My dad’s old 86 ford ranger. I used to love to ride in it as a kid because it was the only vehicle we had that i could ride in the front seat haha. It was my grandpa’s last truck, my dad bought it from him, and it was my first truck. Now my brothers driving it as his first truck, but for him it’s been totally redone (paint, wheels, interior…all except the drivetrain hehe still going strong after 22 years).

My grandfather has three old Fords.
We took the ’63 Galaxie and ’50 Custom to many car shows.

My favorite was always the ’40 Coupe Deluxe. The jump seats were a big deal for me as a small child!

Memories aren’t thought of much are they, until to realize less and less people can relate, if to speak them. I guess to mention driving in a 69 mustang convertible as my moms daily driver when I couldn’t see ver the dash (young kid) The car wasn’t even 15 years old, and not treated as anything special, except to keep it clean. In fact, I remeber the preposterous flaws that needed custom fabrication, like car bending in half behind the doors, fords and gms are sooo strong to youth today. the truth hushed for: Today, 25 years later…even the memory is valuable. Things did not get better. I hope the tuner ricer retard crowd catches on and opens thier ears as loud as thier stupid exhaust.

My grandma had a 1964 Falcon with a V8 in it, I remember rides in that thing….she was nuts! She loved the pickup it had and was always putting it to the test, I wish I had that car now….it’s long gone.
