Dirty GT-R
Weston Henderson
So I’m driving down beautiful Lake City Way in Seattle over the weekend and something catches my eye up ahead. It’s obviously some type of sports car but I can’t quite make it out through all of the traffic. I had no intentions of stopping so I gassed by him only to realize the car was a new Nissan GT-R. Surprised to see one in such an outstanding neighborhood, I turned around and went back. I pulled up next to the passenger side and noticed the pilot was an older gentleman who enjoys eating McDonald’s in his dirty $90,000 sports car on the side of Lake City Way. Oh, and did I mention he couldn’t figure out how to roll the windows down…
So my question is… is this guy a baller or what!?

“Raise your hand if you eat in your car?” *Raises hand* “Now raise your hand if you keep driving when it starts to rain?” *Raises hand again* “Now raise your hand if you never eat in your car and you pull over when it starts to rain and you wait till the roads to dry off before continuing? *Doesn’t raise hand, but looks to see who’s stupid to do so* LoL XD
Yeah, i agree with alotta people replying on here. I mean, the car isn’t as dirty as i was expecting it to be when I saw the blog headline. I expected something terrifying, something worse. But all I see here are pics of a wet, SOMEWHAT dirty (even the rain can wash it off I bet) R35. And why knock the elderly for not knowing how to roll his window down? C’mon, man…Even if I had a car like that, I highly expect it to get dirty eventually. It’s not like we all know the guy personally expecting him to NOT wash it the next sunny day. Or he went Offroading in it (ew..THAT would be a perfect situation for this blog). At least he has a ride that most of us can only dream of having. Well…if we stopped spending $$ on our beloved rides and save up for it at least LoL.

Jan 8, 2009 at 10:48 pm
Well la-di-da Mr.Frenchman, you’ll have to excuse the old man for getting his car dirty in the rain. I suppose he’ll have to wipe it up as he drives around so as to not upset people like you.
Kyle
Jan 8, 2009 at 10:29 pm
Seriously you knock a guy for not knowing how to work the windows in a car that is more complicated than a space shuttle. Ever hear the phrase “respect your elders”. The guy wasn’t stupid just not versed in the ways of the power window. You are just jelous cause the guy has a dirty GT-R and you don’t, oh and the fact that your precious GTI would be eating its exhaust.

Jan 8, 2009 at 7:07 pm
Man!!! if thats dirty u should see my car 10 mins after i wash it…It rains all the time here in Puerto Rico…..so that aint dirty…jajajaja..Yup it’s probably illegal now…
Sean
Jan 8, 2009 at 6:34 pm
Oh, so what… is it illegal to drive a dirty car now? You should come to Maine this time of year and see how many NICE cars are dirty. Jeez…

You buy a car to use it… there’s no point in having a 90k car if it’s parked in the garage all day and you can just stare at it.

Jan 8, 2009 at 4:47 pm
Raise your hand if you eat in your car? now raise your hand if you keep driving when it starts to rain? now raise your hand if you never eat in your car and you pull over when it starts to rain and you wait till the roads to dry off before continuing? my study shows that the guy that owns this gtr is perfectly normal. You drive a car that prolly costs what you make in a year and so does he. whats the diference?
XTZTwinTurbo
Jan 8, 2009 at 4:40 pm
A baller? No. I wouldn’t buy that ugly thing anyway. for 90k, I’d get something else. Impressive mechanics on the car, but I’m not a fan of the look. Maybe when some aftermarket body styling come out.

Jan 8, 2009 at 4:22 pm
I wouldn’t eat in it, but it is a car and they get dirty if u DRIVE them. Isn’t that what its for?….stupid blog

I decided to make my ride visible here. No, it’s not a 90k ride. Maybe 3k!!
team5150
Jan 8, 2009 at 2:08 pm
I’m glad nobody is close to my house right now. My ride is so dirty ya can’t hardly see out the back window. Of coarse, I live on the Oregon coast, it’s been raining and/or snowing for over a month, and now the core of downtown is under about 4 ft. of flood water. What the hell, I’m still gonna keep driving it too!!
BLANK
Jan 8, 2009 at 1:49 pm
cardomain is all bitchy from jealousy cause some old dude owns a new GT-R an gets it dirty.
Justin
Jan 8, 2009 at 1:41 pm
one more thing, my buddy the other day saw a guy driving a mint 70 GTO out in downtown Vancouver, BC. if the owner is proud of his car, he wont care what the weather is. a car is ment to be drivin, not to collect dust. id rather say i drove my GTO or GT-R in the winter or pissing down rain, cause id be PROUD TOO, i woulndt be proud to say “yah, i watched dust collect on my new 90k Nissan GT-R”. if you love your car, drive it!
RICO Laws
Jan 8, 2009 at 1:41 pm
Yes, i would treat a GT-R like this
1. Its not tunable. its already got as much power as it can have
2. Automatic?? WTF??
Satan
Jan 8, 2009 at 1:35 pm
CarDomain, you bitch to much about anything. Grow up.
Justin
Jan 8, 2009 at 1:32 pm
this is not an R35. so stop refering to it as a skyline. just wait a few years, then youll see the new R35.
Chris J
Jan 8, 2009 at 12:33 pm
@ Rob, you said you would speed and Race STI’s if you had a Skyline (or as some of you are saying, GTR) But the pictures that i posted about in the 3rd comment didnt teach you a lesson?

Its a car moron! Its going to get dirty! Probably the most retarded thing you have posted about.

Jan 8, 2009 at 8:56 am

Jan 8, 2009 at 5:11 am
I think it’s sweet that it’s dirty! It means that the dude is actually drving it. I would be pissed to see a GT-R sitting in a showroom somewhere not being used. Plus it is crappy outside in that picture, what do you expect the guy to do stop every 1/2 mile and wipe his car down?!
Kyle
Jan 7, 2009 at 10:36 pm
Lay off you maniac. The guy obviously had the money and wanted a bit of fun in his old age. The roads are wet and discusting so the dirt is acceptable, as for McDonald’s food in a $90,000 car…. get over it. Atleast he pulled over and ate rather than drive and eat. So leave the guy alone. Oh and Steve Neil you fail for this is the new Skyline but rather than call it the Skyline they just went for the thing that made the Skyline famous and thats GT-R. The chassis is of Skyline decent and the styling is like the update done to the Mustangs.
Xaeta
Jan 7, 2009 at 9:58 pm
Well….as an America-released GTR, it’s perfectly understandable. He probably gloats about it, and then just drives it as he pleases (daily driver).
Whereas R32s, R33s, and R34s are kept hidden away because of the hassel to actually OWN it in the United States.
Lastly….shit happens.
John
Jan 7, 2009 at 9:54 pm
At least the car is being driven and not just sitting, cars are meant to drive. It’s dirty simply because look how crappy the weather is in the pictures, dark and wet. I’m sure its got some rain spots and mud flings. I’m sure its kept well, but I would never eat inside that car, that’s a ketchup stain away from being ruined…
Yep
Jan 7, 2009 at 8:34 pm
If the guy didn’t drive the car the way he was, then we wouldn’t have anything to look at on our daily commutes. Instead of him eating McDonalds on that street, he could have left his car at home and taken the Escalade. I see an old guy around here driving an orange Gallardo all the time and even though he drives slow and parks 2″ from other cars in the parking lot, I don’t mind since it’s nice to look at.

@ copper401… u drive a concorde what do u know about rice race or anything.. stlye period.. any the guy does have a point it is meant to be driven.. if u can afford a 90k car then u can afford to do what u want with it….
Matt
Jan 7, 2009 at 7:55 pm
A baller… maybe. But even though I know about 80% of you are going to dissagree, I feel I have to say that it’s still a Nissan.
Big Bob
Jan 7, 2009 at 7:20 pm
copper401 dont even start with your “ricer” comment. Just because its a japanese car doesnt make it a ricer. quit with your stereotyping
COPPER401
Jan 7, 2009 at 7:10 pm
Well 4 one thing I wouldn’t pay $90,000 for a ricer. But if I did ,yea I probably would get it dirty. U have to drive it man, it’s meant to be driven.
Daniel
Jan 7, 2009 at 6:59 pm
Totally agree with Mon, i’m sick and tired of people who buy these cars(that are ment to be driven) and then they park them and don’t even drive them. Its nice to see that some one is treating it like a vehicle, now I realize that it could be better taken care of but give the guy a break, its a sports car thats meant to be driven. I know if I was able to afford a car like that I personally would drive the piss out of it. Eating McDinks while driving it is questionable though.

Jan 7, 2009 at 6:58 pm
haha i go 3 days in rain my car looks worse than that… look its wet outside people.. it rain that day and prob day b4 drive it down the road it will get dirty! better to be drove than sitting in a some old dudes garage. gez

Jan 7, 2009 at 5:06 pm
Good to know it’s driven. And dirtied sometimes. That’s the way it ought to be with cars. Any cars. And, Weston, what do you intend to do if you had one of these? Frame it and hang it on the wall???
And, yes, gold94corolla is right. The window is rolled down in the second pic. What made you mention your last statement?

Jan 7, 2009 at 4:46 pm
This was the skyline that i saw in leavenworth wa about 2 months ago.the skyline was actually dirty because i remember saying to myself i would never a skyline that diry.
Rob
Jan 7, 2009 at 4:06 pm
Come on now, it’s a car. Why put so much oney into something and not use it for what it’s intended for? If I owned one, I would drive the hell out of it, I would speed like a lead-footed demon on the longest stretch of road I could find just to see how high I could get it to top out, and I would sit right beside STI Imprezzas for the sole reason to race them. As far as washing one, I would wash it as often as I wash my F150 4×4 pickup (which is rarely).

its a car its meant to be driven, to those with money 90k cars are just cars nothing more. now if it was say an enzo or veyron id be like WTF

Jan 6, 2009 at 9:56 pm
Well it looks like it was raining so obviously it’s going to be dirty! And this car doesn’t deserve to be a skyline so I’m guessing that’s why they called it the GT-R.

Weston and Ryan, Nissan actually gets offended when you call it a Skyline. Have you ever been to Japan? I frequent Omori headquarters, and I know for a fact that they do not refer to them as Skyline’s.

Jan 6, 2009 at 3:45 pm

there’s a guy here in SIoux Falls, SD, which if you don’t kno where that is it’s in the middle of the part of the country that gets snowed on and theres curently about a foot of snow on the ground. Anyways, back to what I was going to say…there’s a guy here who has a GT-R for his daily driver and I see him driving it all the time year round…and then again there’s another GT-R in town that’s entirely torn apart and in pieces…check it out http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=27246...

cars, are designed to be driven. sports cars are designed to be driven HARD! kudos to the old man for enjoying two of lifes indulgences at once, greasy-bad-for-you-cheap-fast-food, and dirty-bad-for-you-expensive-fast-cars. you only live life once, so enjoy yourself to the fullest before its too late. btw, i only wash black betty once or twice a year, unless it rains if you count that.
Weston
Jan 6, 2009 at 1:26 pm
The car is actually still referred to as a Skyline GTR in Japan ….where it was created and developed… just a thought.
Ryan
Jan 6, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Funny story- A couple months back I heard the local dealership had a “GT-R” so I called up to see if they still had the Skyline for sale. The salesman responded “I’m not sure what a Skyline is…”
To me and to most other ricer/tuners, the car is a Skyline and will always be a Skyline!

I was just joking.
That’s why I said “My friend”.
Pretty rare though I must admit to see such a dirty GT-R.

It’s good that people drive their sports cars that’s why they are called cars not just-the-reason-why-there-is-a-garage-with-my-house transportation machine, literally it’s kind of sickening how some people just buy cars just like they would a lamp or something. So good job dirty GTR guy.

Looks like he enjoys it, after all it is just a car. Im happy that people like him exist while other GTRs are parked in a garage somewhere
