GM Rolls Out the Fleet at NAIAS

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Kathy and I just got back from the big GM press conference/pep rally, where they rolled out the whole fleet, from the Chevy Volt to the new Cadillac Converj (basically a Cadillac Volt). Other highlights included the new Chevy Spark (previously known as the Beat) and Chevy Orlando. Wagoner started the proceedings, and Bob Lutz finished up. Tons of pics of the cars rolling out after the jump.

Interesting to see that the Buick designers did nothing more than borrow a red Camry and put Buick logos on it.

I’ve never seen those tailights on the camaro. They don’t look so hot.

But the caddilac station wagon looks like a hit

even if the economy is in the tank, the auto world is still pretty awesome in some of the cars coming out as of late

The Volt dosen’t look nearly as good as the concept. I had to search the web and get this shot next to a concept pic again. I think the design looked too good and it would have one-upped other Chevys in the showrooms, well ones in its price range. Will there be any other Chevys in the Volt’s price range?

Toyota’s coming out with an all-electric in 2012. GM better be doing more than just saying the Volt’s “cutting edge” by then.

We should be leading, not following the world.

And what was the little bright-colored hatchback?

I have never seen more ugly little cars in my life, do we live in PARIS now! I thought that cadillac coupe had some hope till I saw the back end. CAMARO, MALIBU! thats your hope GM. Here should be your niche GM, Not copying what ford or the economy does. Screw it as a man I cant sit in those things, and I dont even own a HUMMER! I am seriously so down on everything right now, what happened to attractive cars remember the 2002 escalade when it came out wow now its time to hit valet and take your lady out to dinner. now its like I cant afford much more than wendy’s but atleast I have an ugly car to take me there! This is really gonna hurt the aftermarket industry. theres no body kit in the world to make those look good. everyone has an opinion but honestly long sleek lines, low roof, a trunk are something you should consider!

The Volt looks like a Prius on steroids but it looks nice.
