It could be a vengeful wife, but it does look a lot like insurance fraud. Have the owner got any money for it or it failed?

That car screams insurance fraud. The way there is damage on every single panel, all upholstery and trim is slashed. That is exactly what my buddy that works in a body shop says is the easiest way to total a car. no paint, no fire, it likes the artistry that is true vandalism. Not to mention, who leaves a boxer alone on a street where such extensive damage can occur unnoticed?
