2010 Ford Taurus SHO Spotted in Florida

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Jalopnik just posted pics of the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, which was spotted doing humid weather testing in Florida. Other than the dual exhaust and SHO emblem on the back, it looks the same as the standard Taurus we saw in Detroit. The new SHO is expected to get the 335 hp EcoBoost V6. You can see more pics at Jalopnik

So I’m curious: are you guys excited about this car at all?

Whoops, I accidently clicked the button… anyways, the Malibu doesn’t look like anything else and it’s lines are as clean as can be. And I have a question, I’ve never been a fan of Ford, so what does SHO mean?

Darin
Jan 30, 2009 at 9:07 am

Honestly, I’m not to crazy over. I agree with some people sayin that the front end looks like the TL, and the rear end look like crap! On the other hand the HP could be nice. But if ya ask me, the best lookin US made sedan is the new Chevy Malibu. It doesn’t look like anything else and

Eloquently put FordRulesAll. I can see you’re true fan, not to knock the styling anymore, but if I had the itch to get a poor mans version of an 8 Series BMW it’d be my first choice.

Looks like a Acura TL, well none the less still a Ford so no matter what you still have to deal with it being a FORD =”Fix Or Repair Daily”

that thing is huge. boring styling too. not just this one, but it seems that most every sedan is uninspiring and bland

FordRulesAll
Jan 29, 2009 at 4:27 pm

Well Josh I wasn’t trying to persuade you that it wasn’t boring(Which its not) or change your opinion, I was just trying to show everyone that you cant just judge a book by its cover. Also one can’t say it looks like various other brands, so all in all Josh I was giving examples to everyone how it uses Ford Design cues, and does not copy from other auto makers.

Wow, I have never been a ford fan, but in the past few years they have really become a strong automaker. This car is looking great, even though it is a Taurus, it will renew its name from the past ugly unreliable counterparts. Win for FoMoCo.

Jan 29, 2009 at 2:02 pm

Well FordRulesAll, I like FORDs too. In fact, used to own an ’05 GT myself and I miss it still to this day. But you’ve just named off(car names that is) all the reasons why this new Taurus is boring and you don’t even know it! Oh, oh wait, wait…I think I see some vintage FORD Escort in the side mirrors! Uuggh…

The Taurus was way ahead of it’s time when it was introduce over 20 years ago and it stayed fresh for quite awhile. Then Ford just abandoned it to wither on the vine. This restyling doesn’t do anything to make the Taurus as exciting as it was when it was young. You call this a “SHO”—- all I can say is “Meh”

It’s funny how everyone is judging the a Taurus solely on looks right now, really its very ignorant to say well it looks like a Lexus, Camry, Buick, blah blah blah. Lets relate a Taurus to a Taurus or to Ford’s styling. This Taurus has a great mix of Ford Styling, for example the lower grill represents Ford Europe, which everyone has begged to be in American Fords, the upper grill takes its looks from a GEN IV Taurus, the lights show a bit of the Lincoln MKS, the sides(especially the side grill shows the current generation Taurus), and the rear shows the FORD Interceptor Concept. Really you can’t say whether its all wheel drive, rear or front, you can’t tell HP ratings, torque, or anything of that nature by the outside. All this has to wait until Ford lays it out in writing. We as Americans need to stop being so greedy or picky over the designs of our cars, cause maybe thats just why these companies can’t sell really great. I think the new Ford Taurus looks great and I think all Ford Cars look great, and good job FORD for moving ahead in the car game and not giving the public the average every day boring car.

I’m not a Ford guy, but I am impressed by how it looks compared to it’s older and shittier looking counter parts.

Jan 29, 2009 at 11:18 am

lol a magnum. Id rather pay an extra 5 gs for that instead of the magnum. 300 hp v6 and it looks sick for a 4 door. Fords goin to get back to normal soon with these new cars

Reece
Jan 29, 2009 at 10:46 am

Seriously who wants to drive a Ford ????

This Looks like a cross between an Altima, a Camry, and a TL.

Nice try but i think ford should stick to Trucks, SUVs, and the Mustang. I wont be trading in my magnum for anything like this or any ford at that!!

wow ford really made some something worth driving now

Mike
Jan 29, 2009 at 9:15 am

Looks like TL headlights with a Buick grill and a Camry-shaped body. All in all, it’s a definite improvement. Am I excited about this car coming out, no! But it’s nice to know Ford’s making more advancements than the other two American Douche bag company’s!

Maybe it’ll cut down on the mustang drivers. It looks pretty nice but It would look cool if it were lower.

James
Jan 28, 2009 at 9:46 pm

not exciting at all, but it sure as hell looks way better than that piece of shit they have now

Dan
Jan 28, 2009 at 8:34 pm

I owned several SHOs in the early to mid ’90s and am looking forward to its rebirth. Those who had one still say it’s their favorite car ever and I can’t disagree. Some might disagree, but prefer a manual. It was even tolerable in LA traffic.

Chris
Jan 28, 2009 at 7:04 pm

I actually like it. Evil street machine? No but powerful attractive sedan? Yeah. I don’t know that a 335 horse would be excellent to drive without AWD because on a front wheel with power like that, you get a lot of torque steer. That would be especially true with boost.

If you want a nice car, dont buy one that LOOKS like a nice car, just buy a nice car. skip ford.

Ok, I know my ride is almost at classic car status, and I sure do hope this car does smoke my R/T seeing there’s 17 years of technology seperating the 2. The old SHO wasn’t so lucky up against the Spirit, but if my R/T can at least keep pace with the new SHO, then it will put a grin on my face. I look forward to a friendly SHOdown at the strip.

Retroman I’m positive this will smoke the wheels off your Spirit R/T. This thing is going to be fun as long as they offer three pedals.

a v6 with 335 hp… lets hope the 2010 mustang gt has more hp than that

Jan 27, 2009 at 3:34 pm

It looks kinda heavy. Are there any projected stats out yet? I wanna know if it can hold the beef up against an ol mopar like my Spirit R/T. I am very excited for the new SHO to say the least. I even hope they make a new SHOgun out of the Fiesta.

Danny
Jan 27, 2009 at 2:22 pm

I like the styling a lot, I also saw one yesterday with the truck open and a big box in the back.

Chris
Jan 27, 2009 at 1:11 pm

Of course I’m excited about a new SHO. I just hope they make it more unthusiast based like the first one was.

This car is so sexy, and I hate Fords. I can just imagine an aftermarket billet grille on there…mmm…

Brian
Jan 27, 2009 at 12:44 pm

Taurus or Acura TL? hmmmm

Mark
Jan 27, 2009 at 11:37 am

It looks alright, I suppose if I had a family I’d go for it, but I’m curious, if this car has 335hp, whats the new mustang going to have? Surely the pride of the Ford lineup won’t be upstaged by their family car…right?

Josh
Jan 27, 2009 at 11:13 am

Eh, so what…nothing to get excited about. It’s a Taurus, looks like every other sedan out there now a days.
