Dodge Challenger at NAIAS

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Dodge brought two Challenger R/Ts to NAIAS. One came equipped with the Classic package, which means it had stripes, old school Challenger badging and 20 inch five spoke wheels. The other R/T came equipped with a bunch of Mopar Performance bolt-ons, including a hood scoop, cue ball shifter, exhaust, strut tower brace and intake. I was hoping to see a B5 blue car but I’m told it will be another month before they start building those. More pics after the jump!

Chevy Volt Team

By Katherine Helmetag

The way some people talk about it, GM put the EV1 in a box, held a funeral, and buried the thing. Those people wouldn’t be Tony Pasowacz, the leader of GM’s electric vehicle and Volt team. “The people who designed and built the EV1 are mostly still here, and for the Volt, we got the band back together.” That goes a long way to explaining the speed at which GM has been moving on the Volt project. Rob and I sat down with Tony for a few minutes at the 2009 NAIAS to talk about electric vehicles and where GM is going. Continue reading…

Maserati No. 1 Boyle Special

By Katherine Helmetag

Atomicalex

The new Maseratis are cool, but this beautiful old Indy car stole my heart. It won the 1939 and 1940 Indianpolis 500 for Boyle Racing Headquarters, driven by Wilbur Shaw. I love it when the OEMs bring out the heritage iron. The heat bluing on the exhaust is awesome! Check out two more pics after the jump.

Hey! Who's That?

By Katherine Helmetag

So I’m checking out the Brilliance M2 Sport Sedan with Matt and Mike from neuwerks.com and who wants to have a peep at the latest blatant BMW ripoff but Chris Bangle himself! He’s a really nice guy, and stopped for a moment to pose for a pic.

Revenge GTM-R at NAIAS

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

If you think this looks like a Factory Five GTM, you’re right. Cause that’s what Revenge chose as the basis for their new supercar. The car is powered by a 505 hp LS7 and weighs just 2,550 pounds. Those are 22″ wheels in back, and yeah, it’s bagged. Still, Revenge claims this can be a serious track car, and I think I may have talked them into bringing one to VIR this summer for the Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge. If you want one, they go for $145,000. Otherwise you can order a kit from Factory Five and try to build your own. More pics after the jump!

Matte Blue Lambos at NAIAS

By Rob Einaudi

Lamborghini has a pretty cool booth at NAIAS this year, with a Murciélago LP 640, Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder and Gallardo LP 560-4. What do you think of that matte blue? More pics after the jump!

Great Conversation With J Mays

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

This morning Katherine and I had the opportunity to sit down and talk to J Mays, Group Vice President of Global Design and Chief Creative Officer at Ford. This is the guy who is largely responsible for the 2005 and 2010 Mustang, the New Beetle, etc., etc. It’s not every day that you get to talk to an automotive rock star. But Katherine and I got the opportunity and we weren’t going to waste it!

First of all, to follow up our most recent Showroom Showdown, I asked him what he liked better, the new Camaro or the new Challenger. He didn’t hesitate: he immediately said Challenger. He said that the Camaro is “too much of  a caricature” and seems like a “stunt” that somehow made it to production. He said the Challenger is a much more balanced car, although he took the opportunity to say that both cars are too big. Which lead us to the Mustang. Continue reading…

Croatian Colt – Can't Buy It, Just Build It

By Ryan Porter

IN-N-OUT Editor

I’ve never been to Croatia and I’ve got no idea what the car game is like out there but I’m assuming it’s not the easiest place to come up with parts and to get your work done.  But if you are lucky enough to CarDomain Member K-G-B I’ve got a feeling he can make it happen.  Check out this crazy work he has performed on his 1991 Colt! More pics after the jump.

Ok, How's This Color on the Shelby GT500?

By Rob Einaudi

Seems like most of you guys didn’t like the Shelby GT500 vert in Grabber Blue with red stripes. Well, how do you like the dark blue with white stripes? A ton more pics after the jump (the car was spinning around on the platform so I just stood there and snapped pics).
