Gainesville Raceway
By Rob Einaudi

Check out loxxrider’s epic picture post over at VWVortex, which documents his trip to Gainesville Raceway this weekend. I loved this turbo s2000 by Central Florida Turbo with the serious wire tuck. And don’t miss the white xB part-way down the page.

Check Out My New Shoes!
Weston Henderson
So my new rims from Velocity Motoring came in yesterday, and I gotta say I’m pretty impressed. These are the new two-piece v715s, they are 19 x 8.5 ET45 and I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to use a shoe horn and some Crisco to get these in my tiny wells! They were an awesome deal and I’m definitely happy with the packaging, plus they only took four days to get here. I think I’ll run 225-35-19s on these. What do you guys think?
I’ll update you guys with how they look on the whip. Check out the full un-boxing after the jump.

Things have changed in the last forty years… or have they? I pasted more pics after the jump, but you can see the full set over at flickr

44th Victorian Hot Rod Show
By Ron Honig
WaytooFurious
Friday was a great day for me. I got to check out the 44th Victorian Hot Rod Show held in Melbourne. I counted close to 200 cars. There were hot rods, muscle cars, customs and bikes. It was definitely worth going. More pics after the jump.

Swamp Find In Washington State
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
A guy over at the H.A.M.B. stumbled across 25 – 30 cars rotting away in the weeds not too far from Seattle. It’s sad, but kind of cool, too. Looks like some stuff might be saved. A ton more pics at the H.A.M.B. (via Hemmings).

Stand Up and Be "Count"ed: Did Goertz Design the 2000GT?
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
In the world of automotive trivia—and certainly when getting knee-deep in the minutia of collector car trivia—it is near-impossible not to offend someone with a question or answer. Like in previous years, it seems that this year’s Sound Classics’ Classically-Tough Trivia Quiz has drawn the ire of a blogger over at least one issue.
The question and answer from the quiz was this:
This auto company contracted Yamaha and stylist Albrecht von Goertz in 1963 to create a two seat sports car. (1 pt)
Answer: Although Toyota eventually built the 2000GT, it was Nissan which originally contracted Yamaha and stylist Albrecht Goertz in 1963 to create a two seat sports car. Backing out after the initial prototype, Yamaha approached Toyota.
The Japanese Nostalgic Car blog writes:
No, no, no, no, no! How many times do we have to say this? Albrecht von Goertz did not design the Toyota 2000GT. As numerous Japanese books, as well as Shin-Yoshikawa’s bilingual Toyota 2000GT: the Complete History of Japan’s First Supercar states, it was Toyota designer Satoru Nozaki that penned it.
So who’s right? Well both, actually! Continue reading after the jump!

FWD Challenger?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I’m sure many of you have seen the pic of the Mustang with chains mounted on the front wheels, which has been featured in pretty much every Doing It Wrong thread over at VWVortex. Well, how about this guy? Apparently the dude who took the photo tried to tell the owner that the Challenger is RWD, but he didn’t listen.

De-Motivated
Atomicalex
Bad news for those of you who enjoyed Motive: themediaisdying has reported that Motive has ceased production, cut staff, and canned their editor, Eddie Alterman. Perhaps Jalopnik’s wish will come true?

Yes We Were In LA, And Yes We Saw Paris Hilton
Weston Henderson
As I mentioned earlier, Ryan and I were in LA over the weekend, and while driving through Bel-Air ogling the RIDICULOUS houses and cars, we spotted little miss fancy pants Paris Hilton. She was, of course, driving her Bentley Continental GT Convertible (not the pink coupe we saw at SEMA) and we, of course, snapped a few pics. Sorry for the quality guys, but I almost peed my pants.

David Freiburger is Going Back to Hot Rod
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Well, that didn’t take long, did it? David Freiburger just officially announced that he is going back to Hot Rod as Editor-in-Chief (he left in late 2007 to start CarJunkieTV). Hopefully David will still find time to build ride pages on CarDomain for some of his project cars (including his 66 Satellite, even if it knocks mine down a peg in the ratings), but we are definitely planning to continue bringing you Brian Lohnes’s great posts. Anyway, congrats David! Looks like I won’t be letting my Hot Rod subscription lapse after all…
