What Did You Do This Weekend?
Weston Henderson
Ryan and I headed down to LA for the weekend on some company business and decided we should probably drive around looking for cool cars. Wasn’t all that hard to find some and WOW does LA not seem to be effected by this economic crisis! I dare you, ask someone on Rodeo Drive if they feel the recession and they’ll look at you like you’ve got a cucumber growing out of the side of your dome. Seriously, if you don’t want to spend $20 on a bottle of water just say, “ice water is fine.” More pics after the jump!

UK Garage Offers LS9-powered Lotus Extrema
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Talk about scary fast. Italian tuning company UK Garage is offering an Exige with a 647 hp LS9 from the Corvette ZR1. The chassis has been stretched by 20 cm and widened to fit bigger tires. Of course, these are gonna weigh a tad more than a stock Exige, but still… Kind of makes my head spin just thinking about it. More at Lotus Enthusiast

Wait, so wrecking your car gives other people license to take what they want from the wreckage? What the hell? Full story at News Record (via Jalopnik)

M3 Vanity Plate
Atomicalex
I love vanity plates. The best ones tell you everything you need to know about the driver and the car they are attached to. It’s a bonus if they get something funny past the DMV censors, like this M3 that I spotted at the supermarket this weekend.

Imperial Parade Phaeton
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
See, we planned this well. President Obama puts presidential limos in the spotlight, and we uncovered this Jeffrey Godshall article from Special Interest Autos #38, January-February 1977, featuring Chrysler’s Imperial parade phaetons. Except these three dual-cowl cars weren’t built to chauffeur presidents (even though at least four did ride in them). And they weren’t really all that secure, looking at them through the filter of half a century. But at least imagine a time when Chrysler could so casually build such extravagant cars, even if they weren’t for public consumption. Continue reading at Hemmings
JCCA New Year Meeting
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
That’s a pretty cool line up of cars isn’t it? I suppose the fact that this was taken not in the show itself but in the parking lot next door shows just what kind of event the JCCA New Year Meeting is. Not to take anything from the actual show, but you could spend just as much time checking out the cars in the lots. A lot of people know this, because I saw tons of others strolling the parking areas taking photos of the machinery and “tailgating” with their buddies. Yep, this is Japanese classic car culture at its very best.
For years, the New Year Meeting has been one of the biggest classic car gatherings in Japan. All day long, the streets of Odaiba are filled with vintage cars cruising by with the sound of sidedraft carbs and musical horns echoing off the nearby skyscrapers. It’s just beautiful. The F-Bomb Camaro in Fast and Furious 4
David Freiburger
It’s been the worst kept secret that my F-Bomb Camaro is in the newest Fast and Furious movie, releasing April 4. But now that the second trailer is everywhere, clearly showing the car, there’s not much left to guess. Yep, the F-Bomb has a decent role in the flick, which, BTW, is not actually called “4.” It’s just Fast and Furious. Seemingly a prequel.
While I’m still obligated not to reveal any plot points, I can tell you that the real F-Bomb is not in the movie, though you might see the engine and you will hear the car’s actual engine and tires in action. The production company built eight clones of the car, none of which escaped unscathed. Continue reading at Freiburger’s Junkyard

Do You Leave Them in the Package or Do You Take Them Out and Play With Them?
By Rob Einaudi

Bought a few Hot Wheels last week. I almost always take them out, but the packaging on the Super Bee and Corvette Grand Sport are pretty cool. More pics after the jump. And which one do you like best?

A Friendly Rivalry!
By Steve Neill
Steve Neill
Last week Ben Schaffer posted a Photoshop of a GT-R done by his friend Charlie. Admittedly, I love GT-R’s, and I even own one (a Skyline R32 GT-R). However, I found the photoshop to the extreme ends of things, so I wanted to start a little friendly rivalry!
Now my Photoshop skills certainly are not the best, nor can I ever expect to win any awards, but this is what I came up with. I’m not a big fan of all the decals I applied to the car (I was in a SpoCom mood I think…), but other then that, it turned out how I wanted it to: a hardcore time attack car.
What do you think? Does Charlie have any competition? Or did he have the win from the beginning? You can see Charlie’s GT-R after the jump!
