Is It Possible to Park Cool?

By Weston Henderson

Weston Henderson

I rolled into CarDomain world headquarters this morning with a distinct mission in mind: to park cool. I caught this sweet sideways spot with plenty of room to angle my car in so that anyone whipping around the corner would be  forced to stare at the most gorgeous car in the garage. Ryan apparently had the same mission this morning, because he decided to angle his whip in behind me and engage in a stance competition. This whole ordeal got me thinking about parking style.

So my question is… is it possible to park cool?

bro, there are times to park cool. that is the best example of parking cool so far today. If sherriffs didn’t patrol the parking lot, I would park cool at the college all the time. good job on the V dub parked extreamly cool

No, no it’s not. However, it is possible to park like you’re trying to park cool thinking you have a sweet ride. This works with Ferrari’s, Lambo’s, any exotic car. When you’re doing it with a GTI with the intention of trying to look cool…like when you have a mission to look cool, like when you said you pulled in to the parking garage with the intention of looking cool…like when you said you wanted everyone to see your gorgeous ride…gorgeous BTW…that makes you an arrogant douche-bag. I think someone should take a dump on your hood.

I would just like to let everyone know that I nor my husband ever wrote this!! I have no idea how it got linked to my page! I haven’t even been on this blog before! Sorry…

This has to be the lamest topics I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait for the follow up post asking “What kind of shoelaces go best with my floormats?” or “What wallet will show off my eyes and stick shift the best?”.

Actually i sometimes do park with my front end uphill, it makes it look like my trucks lifted a little higher haha. I feel like a total douche sometimes but it’s kind of a habit.

I think it is possible for parking certain ways to be perceived as being “cool” by some but of course not all. Some think parking a car is just that, and if anything is “cool” about the whole situation it would have to be the car itself.
-
As I see things, a first-person encounter with anything is equal to a photograph. There are subjects, settings and circumstances in a perpetual string from the time we wake till we fall asleep at night. Moments in life that capture people’s attention are dictated by interests and whether or not they realize it, the setting and circumstances almost always affects what takes their interest in the first place.
-
As far as parking is concerned, lets say someone parks diagonally across two spaces right in front of a convenience store. The beauty of his or her ride would be overshadowed by their disregard for others. Take the same ride parked the same way in a far corner of a mall parking lot with blooming flowers and clean pavement on a sunny day and the perception will be a hell of a lot better for both the car and owner.

You gotta by a real car guy/girl to talk about how to park cool

Its all about parking out in the open away from all the other cars. Works well if you have a nice car, and eye catching paint.

Also, in parking garages, park in the open, and under a light!

i have always been bad at parking forward and can back into a stall with my eyes closed. One of my friends from Arizona said “only gangstah’s back in.” I can always angle my wheels when i park next to a car of greatness, in hopes that they might catch a glimpse of my sidemounts when they back out of their stall and look in their sideview mirrors.

you can always look cool when you back in and park with the GIANT silver window shade in your window shield!

people, its just parking, get over it, just park it like you should, when i see any car/truck parked sideways taking up 2 or more spots i don’t think “thats a cool car” or “they parked real cool” i think “what a douche”, a few years back i would see 2 or 3 cars parked at a grocery store and obviosuly they worked there because i’d see the same cars everyday for a long time parking in the same spots, the parking spots are at an angle but they parked the opposite direction facing the wrong way and taking up 2 spots, just trying to attract attention on main street, this is almost the same thing why a ricer would put a 3+ foot tall wing on the back of their car, especially on a front wheel drive, they think its cool but really its no reason for it and just makes them look like an idiot, just my opinion lol

Hey Weston and Ryan, are you two dating? Between trips to LA (or was it S.F.), wearing matching T-shirts and parking together one begins to wonder. Maybe Weston woke up this morning, nudged Ryan and said “Hey, let’s park together today and Blog about it.” And then you shared a gentle kiss and headed off to work. It’s awfully sweet, you guys are really f’n cute together.

It seems like the harder you try to look cool, the more the opposite happens. If it looks like you are parking in a way to be cool, it instantly becomes uncool.

Definitely possible to park cool. Definitely can see friends and I at the movie theater taking up two parking spots each parked diagonally.

James
Feb 6, 2009 at 4:08 pm

Wow, lots of haters. It’s one thing to be a douche bag and take up two spots in a crowded parking lot, but to have some fun in your own work’s lot isn’t a big deal. Chill out!

Ryan Porter
Feb 6, 2009 at 4:00 pm

Here’s the story. Weston jacked my spot this morning. You see these two spots are nearly at the bottom of the garage and when I drive the Audi I take it to the bottom of the garage for more room, etc.

I don’t think the car is the greatest thing in the world. It’s not an exotic, and it’s not even hard to get but the fact is I like to keep my car clean of door dings out of personal pride. So when it comes to that extra walk across the lot or another two flight of stairs, I’m that guy. I may be going to Costco but it looks like I parked at the bank 200 yards from the front door of Costco. That’s my life!

Hell yeah you can park cool. I park diagonally across 3 handicapped spots. Plus, everyone gets to check out your car, because the handicap spots are up front.

In my opinion parking cool is to park with another car(or more),mind you the cars have to look cool(which the A5 and GTI do) to do this cause it gives the impression that the cars are worth something that they have a meaning and belong to a certain group. For example you see some dude all dressed nice but sittin by his self, your gonna say there’s an idiot, but if that dude has other nicely dressed people by him your gonna say hey I wanna be in that group. OR You could park like a jerk which is cool but only to you and your party which means to take up as many spaces as you can.

Feb 6, 2009 at 3:01 pm

Yeah you can park cool. Just make sure your car is straight in the space and when you open your doors make sure not to hit the car next to you.

hell yea its possible to park cool… when wheel angles and sideways parking isnt available to do, backing is a good stand-by. I back in every day at work.

WOW that A5 is sweet.

Fuck the GTI, its ugly. who gives a shit about GTI’s?

Feb 6, 2009 at 1:21 pm

WOW… that picture is awsome amazing! Id say you both proved that you can definitly park cool like. I usually just park at the back of a parking lot where theres no cars so everyone can see mine. And angle my front tires a bit
And lol at budman#27

Ha, ha 1988montecarloss! That’s so true! How many times have you tried to park in a parking garage and seen some dickhead park his car over two spaces or parked his behemoth pickup/SUV in a COMPACT ONLY spot! Lowriders just park everywhich way during a show while tuners & exotics seem to just line up strait…As far as parking cool for a photo, it matters on environmnet, lighting and camera angle. Not how the car is parked! There, question answered.

IMO, parking cool is all about how your wheels are pointed. I have a lifted truck with 32′s and having your steering wheel locked to one side makes the tires look bigger and just makes the front end look mean. I’ve found the same goes for my Mazda, even with just 18″ rims and summer tires.

Feb 6, 2009 at 12:30 pm

as far as parking cool, in So. Cal. all the people who want to show off their car back into their parking spots (where everyone else just..pulls in)

i personally don’t think its any cooler…but thats what they do…lol
