The Vdub for sure! over all the VW is a much much better automobile! Can’t beat the proformance of the VW for the price! Plus the safety innovations and resale value are far superior to the Lancer hands down.

i would deffinaly go with the lancer, less weight 2 hp cont really hurt that much the lancer looks much better also….i love that mean look of the front grille and headlights, vdubs are pretty realiable seeing as my cousin has bagged his early to mid 90s passat that runs great…finally answer….deffinatly the lancer

My dad bought a beetle, used but with 11k miles on it. The only automatic transmission vehicle i’ve ever driven that has rolled back on a hill. It is also a piece of crap. I will never own a VW… also, the Lancer looks better and has the paddle shifters as an option. Mitsu FTW.

VW=high quality/expensive maintenance (i own a couple)
mitsubishi=Low quality/cheap but often maintenance (ive owned a few)
Id still choose the VW though.

Lancer for sure. It’s way higher on the babe magnet scale. I wouldn’t expect a ton of upgrades to be available because they’d probably all be geared toward the evo though. Maybe i’m wrong but i know my trim of car as few available upgrades where the higher R or T5 trim has bountiful upgrades.

this is a tough one for once. i really like both of these cars but i think id have to take the lancer the jetta is a little boring, the lines on the car just dont do it for me. the front end of that new lancer is straight up sick. and what the hell is frank talkin about no “quality control” volkswagens are notorious for problems and being hard to work on. so have some knowledge to back up what you say.

Ugly and quality control isn’t there? You obviously haven’t driven one before! The features and options are great for a relatively cheap car. Touch screen navigation, harddrive for music, rockford fosgate sound system, sirius radio, bluetooth, and keyless entry is a pretty damn good for what you are paying.

Lancer Hand Down… I couldn’t be happier with mine! Although it is lacking in hp, the handling is great!

lancer. stock jetta (non-GLI) exterior looks terrible. they actually have similar reliability ratings, not good. gm-owned mistu vs cheap vw. heard rumor germans were considering canning jetta all together and focus more on golf series and a sub-compact.

lancer looks better but if the interior of the jetta is the same as the golf then that takes the cake for best interior. performance, i wouldn’t have a clue but if the jetta had a TSI engine in it then that’d be sweet as.

I’d go with the lancer. They’re way more reliable. The only time you’d be driving your Jetta is to go to the shop, if it can even make it there. Plus any guy that drives a jetta either sucks c0ck as his day job or is a raging underground h o m o.

jetta definetly. Come from the experience of wanting a lancer at first and test driving it they are out together like shit. the lancers look like they want to fall apart. i ended up buying a jetta and im am extremly happy with my decision. they are put together very well. my buddy has a new 09 lancer and same thing its put together terribly. and plus the vw gti has won best car in its class the past couple years so that proves thier quality.
JETTA over lancer any day.

owned a 04 jetta 95k miles, and it has cause me nothing be headaches!!! stupid bastard is not as reliable as they would like to claim.
stay away from these vehicles!!! they suck more balls in a week then a crack whore in a month!!! worst decision ever made by me.

i would buy the lancer even if it didn’t have a/c for crying out loud, i hate VW from now and until i die

Lancers, hands down. only negative side is that it look sort of like an EVO minus the Blacked Out Front, Dual Exhaust, Vortex Generator, and more agressive Hood, and that FMIC lurking behind front end.. alot of subaru WRX and mustang GT are gona pull up and provoke a race thinking your a EVO and after they smoke it there gona go home thinking they just smoked a 13sec 4B11 EVO not a 15-18k Lancer 18sec n/a lancer. (lots of dumb ass idiots out there… dont be amazed)

and as for the Vdub, germans make good car dont get that twisted or *ucked up but reliablity still have to be improved. but if your talking power and torque the jetta would probably out-do the cheap lancer on any given day.

i’d give the lancer 10 points for looks for the price range-
9 for the vdub for the tiptronic and power/torque for the price range-

Lancer. It’s a close one for me seeing how I don’t really like either one that much but I kind of prefer the look of the lancer and while the germans make some good cars, there cars can be a real pain to work on.

ok so heres the deal. i would choose lancer for a couple of dif reasons like i have spent a lota time in em specially the 08. all vw have problems with being reliable plus they suck to work on. lancer are more customizable and are more aggressive looking. now for those who say o the lancer just wants to be an evo, are prolly the same ppl that say that bout the impreza wrx and sti. but thats how they r made and thats fine plus the evo would stomp any jetta or style like it.

I have driven both. I like both. To choose is hard!!! At this particular point in time I would have to say i wouls go with the Lancer. Trust me, that is not based of these two pictures but memory of the two. Neither of these pictures do either of these cars any type of justice….
