Retreads
Atomicalex
Bridgestone had a cool display about retreading truck tires. I’m a tire freak, so it was pretty interesting to me. It’s a real remanufacturing process—more indepth than I thought.

What's Next: 150 MPH Electric Motorcycles
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Mission Motors, founded by a former Tesla Motors engineer, plans to sell a limited run of 50 of these electric super bikes next year. Powered by a 3-phase AC induction motor and a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery, the bike has a range of 150 miles and a claimed top speed of 150 mph. A recharge takes two hours at 240 volts and eight hours at 120 volts. Price? Only $69,000! More at Wired

Hyundai Genesis Coupe: Little Tibling?
Atomicalex
I can’t be the only person who is wondering why Hyundai is bothering to slap the Genesis name on this car. The first time I saw the Coupe, I was pretty excited because I thought it was the new Tib(uron). C’mon—it looks like a Tib! And it’s priced like a (nice) Tib! Hyundai announced that the car will come with a weight-reduced R-Spec package starting at $23,750 for those with racing intentions. A track package that preserves some creature comforts will start at $26,750. Another pic after the jump.
Jeep Off-Road Course
Atomicalex
A dude named Brian drove me around this wild off-road simulation course in a Dodge Ram Quad Cab. 30 degrees of slope doesn’t look like much from the ground, but from on top of it, it’s a whole ‘nother story. Climbing up the hill was bad enough, going down was crazy! The traction hill was 16 feet high with a 35 degree slope. Tons of pics from the passenger seat after the jump.
Chicago: Work Trucks
Atomicalex
In the category of things that we didn’t see at Detroit are work trucks. Both GM and Ford had tons of big (F750?!?) trucks kitted out with fire equipment, EMS, dump beds, you name it. Note the Non-CDL signs – that’s interesting….
Are You Lucky To Be Alive?
By Rob Einaudi

I’ve had a few close scrapes and have been involved in some nasty collisions, but I don’t know anyone who has had a wreck like this and lived to tell the tale. Dave owned a beautiful Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet in the early 80s. One December day shortly after switching to studded tires for the winter, he went into a corner carrying a bit too much speed and hit the cable guardrail. He woke up a minute later with two guys yelling at him, amazed that he was alive. He had slammed his face into the steering wheel pretty hard, but otherwise he was ok. Truly amazing! See pics of the car before the accident after the jump!

Fast & Furious Movie Cars: Official Pics and Specs Now Live!
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
A while back I spent some time in LA on the set of the new Fast & Furious movie. It was a blast–there was an absolute treasure trove of hopped-up rides, I got to hang out with the CarDomain members whose cars were cast for the flick, and Vin Diesel and Paul Walker were actually pretty cool in real life (Walker is a seriously enthusiastic gearhead, it turns out–and Diesel was tooling around the set on an electric scooter like a giant bald kid). Judging by the rides that turned out for the shoot, as well as the star cars featured below, the latest installation is going to be more domestic-centric than any of its predecessors, with a good mix of American muscle and hot imports–all in all, something for everybody. Read on for vital stats and a ton more pics of the movie’s star cars–and stay tuned to the CarDomain blog for more details on Fast & Furious over the next few days.
