The Mother Lode Rally: Pre-run in a Rental Part 1

By Mike Musto

RideLust.com

Y’all are going to have to bear with me on this one cause it may be a long blog. I spent the last ten days driving across the continental United States on a scouting trip for the upcoming Mother Lode Road Rally which runs from May 15th to the 22nd of this year. We started in Chicago, IL and made our way west to our final destination of San Diego, CA some 3,100 miles later.

Obviously one immediate concern about driving across the United States in the dead of winter was the weather. We simply had no idea what the elements were going to bombard us with. So we set out to get the right vehicle for our journey west.

CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot: The Dodge Warlock and Lil Red Express

By Jim Brennan

UDMan

Welcome to the CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot, a regular feature which aims to expand the notion of what a muscle car is, and to have some fun in the process. Were are going to step this up just a notch, and expand the definition of a Muscle Car to include trucks. Dodge was one of the first to flirt with the idea of producing a performance truck, and produced two of the best: the Dodge Warlock and the Lil Red Express.

Testing, 1, 2, 3

By David Wallens

Grassroots Motorsports

Most of the time, I’m more or less chained to a desk. Sometimes, however, I’m allowed outside for some fresh air. Last week we had one of those days as we ran three separate tests at the Gainesville International Raceway test track. Once we sort through the data we’ll present some conclusions in a future issue, but in the meanwhile I can tell you that good tires really do lower lap times, increase driver confidence and generate more g-forces.

BudMan #27

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

This ’79 Camaro was built by Connie’s husband and has several top five finishes at the track. Pretty clean for a race car!

Funny thing is, I had this blog written before BudMan#27 took the piss out of poor Weston yesterday. So was that Connie who posted those comments, or was it Dan?

Is It Possible to Park Cool?

By Weston Henderson

Weston Henderson

I rolled into CarDomain world headquarters this morning with a distinct mission in mind: to park cool. I caught this sweet sideways spot with plenty of room to angle my car in so that anyone whipping around the corner would be  forced to stare at the most gorgeous car in the garage. Ryan apparently had the same mission this morning, because he decided to angle his whip in behind me and engage in a stance competition. This whole ordeal got me thinking about parking style.

So my question is… is it possible to park cool?

Season Starts

By David Wallens

I realize that most of the country is facing cold winds and snow flurries, but the 2009 season is at our doorstep. Here in Florida, we don’t get a break—one season ends in December, the next starts in January.

In fact, I’m already behind the 8 ball, having missed our kickoff autocrosses last month. And unfortunately didn’t start 2009 on the right foot, finishing third out of three this past weekend. So, anyone else have plans to put together a stellar year? (And for the record, worn-out run-flats and 300 horsepower don’t always mix.)
