By Rob Einaudi

Lots of good ones for last week’s photo, but I’m going with the first and best Michelin man joke by Robb: “Amber Alert: The Michelin Mans cousin has been kidnapped….” Stay tuned for another caption contest tomorrow!

Canadian International Autoshow Event Coverage Coming Up!
By Steve Neill
Steve Neill
Next week, I head off to the Canada Autoshow on behalf of CarDomain! It may not be L.A. or Tokyo or even Detroit, but it still always has something nice to show, and with Porsche and Nissan out of the Detroit show (as well as a bunch of other automakers), I’ll be posting up pictures of all the nice new cars. Toronto has a big exotic and tuner scene, as well as lots of little goodies for every member of the family to enjoy! Along with the photos of the rides, I will also make a small gallery entitled “Domo-in-a-car,” in which we’ll see Japan’s friendliest JDM mascot sitting in the driver’s seat of some of the most fine and exquisite automobiles in the world! Should be a cool thing for the upcoming generation of car guys to see, huh?
In any case, if you have any requests, don’t be afraid to post it down, and I’ll be happy to take lots of pictures!
Happy and safe driving!

What's Next: Start-Stop Technology
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
It’s so simple it just makes sense: shut down your engine when you’re at a stop and you’ll save gas. Start-stop technology is already commonplace in hybrids, but it’s coming to more conventional gasoline cars, and may be standard on all vehicles within the next five to ten years. Mercedes has been particularly aggressive, announcing last year that that they would be rolling it out across their entire lineup. And AMG just announced that it will be standard on many AMG cars next year. So now you won’t have to feel guilty sitting in the drive-thru. Via Wired and Autoblog

Ok, so it looks like this one has been bouncing around the web for a while now, but it’s new to me! Three more pics after the jump, including a photo of the Pit. Yow! Via 8thcivic.com

Yatabe Toyota 2000GT
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
I wanted to put up these photos of the incredible Toyota 2000GT that was made famous for its top speed testing at the old (defunct) Yatabe Test Track, which is coincidentally really close to where Mike Garrett lives in Japan. When we were all together in Japan in August, Mike showed me and Rod where the remnants of the track were, and you can still see evidence of the banking and trees. They need to construct a Yatabe memorial there sometime.
Anyway, all the info in the story below was told to me about 6 months ago by my friend Ricky Silverio, who is a professional automotive encyclopedia. I don’t know how he does it, but this guy somehow manages to learn, index and retain automotive information in his head. He his an automotive style guru of many genres of car culture, who in my opinion, is always several years ahead of what other people are into. Continue reading Speedhunters

7 Minutes in Can-Am Heaven
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
After writing about the Lola T70 and thinking about the sheer awesomeness of the old Can-Am series, we remembered that there are probably lots of people who’ve never seen those wild old cars in action. Well, here’s your chance.
This is a seven-minute video (and the first of a multipart series) looking at the first race of the 1967 Can-Am season at Road America, located in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. If we could build a time machine and go anywhere on Earth for a day, we’d take it here, on this day.
Listen to big-blocks screaming in 1,700-pound road-racing cars and pay close attention to the crowd of immortals racing these cars. It’s the freaking racing hall of fame, and it’s the starting grid for this race.
Simply bad-asser.
Cramps Frontman Lux Interior Dead at 62
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I was sad to learn that Lux Interior, who took his stage name from a car commercial, died yesterday from a pre-existing heart condition. The Cramps were one of my favorite bands growing up—I listened to them a lot while driving around at night, getting in trouble. RIP.

Get Out For Some Cold-Weather Cruisin'
By Jen Dunnaway

It’s been uncharacteristically sunny here in Seattle, so I recently took the opportunity to get the Escort GT out for some exercise. After living in upstate New York for seven snowy years, running my summer project car in the sun during the dead of February is damn hard to take for granted. Don’t get me wrong–I loved New York and I dearly miss the ample snow wheelin’ afforded by the great Northeast. But not having your favorite car under lock-down for four months out of the year is pretty great too. How about you: is it nice enough for a winter spin in your neck of the woods, or is your car still under wraps? Or do you just say to hell with it and run your prize ride year-round regardless of the weather?

CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot: The Jensen Interceptor
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
Welcome to the CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot, a regular feature which aims to expand the notion of what a muscle car is, and to have some fun in the process. While it could be argued that the featured car is actually more of a grand touring car in the tradition of a Jaguar, I will submit evidence that it is more of a gentleman’s muscle car because of one simple feature: the engine. Yes, what we have here in a fast, powerful, and luxurious coupe that happens to be built in the UK, with a big old Chrysler 383 or 440. Introducing the Jensen Interceptor.
