Bo Zolland Delithium Concept
By David Clarke
highspeedhijinks
My favorite independent designer, Bo Zolland, has a flair for creating realistic automotive fantasies. Take his latest hot rod concept he calls Delithium (combination of Delerium and Lithium). Even though this “boat tail” speedster screams “I’m packing a big block V8,” Bo envisions his creation sipping instead of guzzling. More…

Bo proposes that this car would either run an all-electric drivetrain consisting of a Lithium Ion battery pack, or be a gas-electric hybrid. Personally I would imagine it as something similar to GM’s Ethanol roadster, a high-revving turbocharged 6 cylinder that runs on an alternative fuel. Either way you move it, it still looks sweet. Notice the subtle touches like the exhaust pipes that peek out from the engine bay, or the brake backing plates with scoops to direct fresh air. Due to the wraparound windscreen and the boat-tail combo, I see a lot of powerboat influence in his design. Where ever he drew his inspiration from, it worked. Check out the rest of his variations on this design below, and see wallpaper-sized versions of the images here.

I agree completely.

But not everyone’s gonna be able to have Hemi V8s in the next couple of decades, nice to see stuff like this and the Tesla coming out. That’s all.

ok well put it this way if all cars were electric you wouldnt be able to make them more powerful or faster in the ways you can now and you only have exhaust sound through a speaker or somethin and only thing u could really change is looks. You like cardomain right well if every car was the same and stuff it would pretty much be over because it would be boring then and any kind of racing would over because it probably wouldnt be competitive. Not to mention it wouldnt be fun to be a car guy. plus im all for alternative fuels but as long as u can run it in the cars weve always had without drastic changes and it still be clean because it would suck if you could only use it in certain vehicles kinda like e-85 is now .

Well, yeah, we can remake those fuels. Problem is, it takes thousands to millions of years of trees decomposing. The same trees we’re cutting down to build houses and keep them warm. Now, I’m definitely not some greenie idiot, I think global warming is a load of horsecrap (though it wouldn’t hurt to have cleaner air), but there are some things we can never change. Anyway, that’s my opinion.

hey thats my opinion and im not the only one to think that as far as non renewable resources go thats just another thing we are made to think because if everything else can remake itself i think it can plus hey dont hate cuz im giving my opinion im entitled

chevyman, get a brain…. I mean really you sound like an angst-ridden ten year old. Grow up. I love American muscle as much as the next guy, but “non-renewable” fuels are exactly that: non-renewable. We can waste all of it and never again be able to run the cars we love, or we can conserve it. The fuel doesn’t make that car. If that were true we would all be gas-heads or some other clever name to show our love of gasoline. We’re car enthusiasts because we love cars, not because we love the fuel that happens to be necessary to make them run. Take the Tesla for example: it has very similar specs to the Lotus Elise and it uses no gasoline.
Start using your brain. Cars and gasoline are no longer equivalent.

It’s Ok, but this body style has been done for years it is nothing new. Boyd Cottington, Foose, Plymouth Prowler all came before it.

yeah i would take the red or green one but i would definitely have to put a gas engine in it maybe like a 327 small-block from a vette or something but it would be sweet

Mod it to raise a couple inches. Park it and it crouches. Hey, looking at this thing sitting still would be almost as good as sex, she might as well pose when sitting and stride when going places.

I notice only one thing that I do not like. That low front end would never last the roads here in Ohio. I passed a pot hole this morning that would eat this car. That said, this looks like it would be a fun eco-friendly track car. Lift that front end a bit to make real world driving possible and you have a good cruisin car.
