Where Do You Shop Online For Car Parts?
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
For regular old OEM replacement parts, I’m pretty obsessed with RockAuto. I dig their super-navigable online catalog, the prices are close to wholesale, and for most items you can choose from a variety of brands–which works great for me since I like to avoid the service-grade Made-in-China suspension wear parts and electronics that try to set your car on fire. I’m also into Northern Auto Parts, which tends to stock a lot of the more obscure and obsolete items–a goldmine for my diesel Escort, among other things. For performance goodies, I’m all hearts for Summit Racing, though they can be a little spendy for me. Ditto for Clifford Performance, where I enjoy drooling over straight-six upgrades for my AMCs and scheming about getting them cheaper on eBay. How about you? What’re your favorite car parts websites?

Great selection of aftermarket parts at http://WWW.Streetperformance.com
You can search by Year, Make and Model. Makes it easy to find parts for your car or truck.

Summit Racing is by far the best in my book. They always have parts in stock, their order process is easy on the web or phone, and their pricing is always the lowest from what I can see.
They also have 3 warehouses, so they always seem to do a good job being able to ship immediately.

I just checked out that site “Clifford’s Performance.” All I have to say is AWESOME! I’ve been trying to find performance parts for my old slant six Dodge truck for a long time now, but no one has them. I knew header’s and $ barrel intakes existed for them, but can’t even seem to find them. That site is now in my bookmarks. Thanks Jen!!! I would be ordering a set of their headers for it right now, but I just bought a set of Hedman headers for my GMC so I’m strapped for cash. A good website I’ve found for Chevy and Ford truck parts is http://www.LMCTruck.com but they don’t really have much for Dodge. I rebuilt my entire fron’t end on my GMC with their parts after I totalled it, and it looks better now than it did before. Also got my new headers from them.

Why I go to the CarDomain Custom Shop!
-
well, no… actually never bought anything there, least not yet.
-
Online? Ebay maybe. I often opt for used parts in good condition, so Craigslist performs a lot of miracles for me whether selling or buying. I once got a good deal on rims ‘n tires from tiresdelivered.com for the ‘Prix but anymore I even find good rims with good tires on them for less than just new cheap tires at WalMart.
-
Oh but a good way to find some obscure used parts is uneedapart.com, a free site that effectively connects those in need with many yards who in turn send bids by Email for requests.
-
Other than that, my new stuff comes from Pep Boys, NAPA, Advance or Auto Zone and Competition Exhaust in Bristol, PA does my… exhaust.

I like to go to the junkyard. You go in looking for something specific and end up leaving with a bunch of other cool stuff that otherwise you wouldn’t look for. But if I must buy something new then I just head to the local shops, or around the Long Beach area.

Well for my ’66 Mustang I’m all over the place. There are so many good vendors. I live a skip hop and a jump away from Summit’s Tallmage based store, so it’s more economical for me to drive there then pay shipping plus I can see what I want up close. Well, anyway, for my K-cars, I go to turboesunleashed.com, forwardmotion.com, and fwdperformance.com. For the Festy, I can either shop at a Mazda dealership or go to festivamotorsport.com.

Classic Industries is great for all the those classic parts that you just can’t find anywhere else but they can be expensive. It’s kind of hit or miss, some parts are unbelievable reasonable and others are ridiculously expensive. RockAuto is awesome for everything else, good prices, fast shipping, great selection. Good call Jen!

For body parts I like to use cooltruckparts.com, they have some really awesome prices on body panels and realistic shipping costs. I also use nationalpartsdepot.com and lmctruck.com as well as northernautoparts.com …..all have great prices and some carry some real hard to find parts for my Bronco.
