Hang On To Your Seats: Fast & Furious To Be Screened With D-BOX
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
The upcoming Fast & Furious will be the first major theatrical feature to be shown with the seat-shaking D-BOX Motion Code technology, promising moviegoers “an unmatched realistic, immersive experience” which presumably includes life-like, bone-jarring car wrecks and tubs of extra-buttered popcorn dumped down shirtfronts. But wait: the only viewers who will get to enjoy these visceral treats on April 3rd are the lucky few within driving distance of two D-BOX-equipped US theaters– the Mann Chinese 6 in Hollywood and UltraStar Surprise Pointe 14 in Surprise, AZ. The rest of us will have to schlep off to the normal moviehouse and get our seatbacks kicked the old-fashioned way. Anyone in Hollywood or Surprise want to write us a review?

I can, but wait for all the yuppie fucks to die off, and we’re going to have the pick of the litter on good classic muscle. Think about how many people under the age of 40 care to the point of paying that much for a muscle car. Not many. I predict in 10 to 15 years, muscle car prices will be attainable again. And I can’t wait. My earlier point is that destroying cars for entertainment value is nothing new. It’s been happening since the start of film, and it’s not going to stop. So, might as well just say F-it and enjoy the crappy movie. I know I will. It’ll at least be worth a laugh or to “Granny shifting not double-clutching like you should…” I’m not sure the writers even knew what a clutch was.

Coolpacer, the 68-70 dodge chargers are my end all be all dream car. Crap movies like this constantly destroying them and the yuppy fucks at barrett jackson make them a car beyond my means. I’m mopar to the core, and everybody knows we don’t fuck around when it comes to our cars. Can you see why that pisses me off now?

Yea, but the horrible story acted out by even worse acting is worth a laugh or two. Sacrilege? Perhaps…but who cares, car movies are fun. I suppose you think the Dukes of Hazard was sacrilege for all the Chargers they destroyed? It’s been happening for years, and it isn’t going to stop. Would you rather them destroy priceless originals? Pop a chill pill and enjoy it for entertainment’s sake.

I just read an article in Mopar Action that said all of the American classics in it are powered with small block chevy crate motors, including the ’72 torino and ’70 charger in the movie, for the sake of centralizing repairs. Fuck this movie. People should be killed for allowing that sacrilege to happen.

Jen,
I’m always down for a night in Hollywood, I’ll prolly work for free
Do you know if the rumble seats are only for the premier or any screening at that theater? If it’s only for the premier…I’m not sure how to get tickets. I couldn’t find anything on the Mann website. Gotta make it to a rumble seat show.

No love for us on the East Coast, what we got to do to get these in our theatres… spray tan and drink starbucks 24/7! I’ll have to settle for regular seats, but it comes our two days before my birthday so maybe I’ll get a free ticket out of someone.
