The EV Duster Hits the Road!

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

I just got word from Bruce that his EV Duster is now running and driving! He hasn’t quite sorted out all the kinks yet, but still, it’s pretty impressive to see an old A-body running on electricity while maintaining that tough muscle car stance. Be sure to check out his ride page, and you can also read his blog for more details. Bruce is promising video soon, so stay tuned!

You know I once read a SciFi story that detailed how a guy was driving his ancient 63 Checy 2 that had been modified five times into the electric hovercraft that he had, and even that was old technology….in the story.

As for you wack jobs that think this guy ruined his MOPAR, at least he’s thinking long into the future where he’ll still be rolling in his vintage piece while the rest of you guys watch your gas powered pieces rust quietly in the garden.
Look, its a nice hobby fixin up old cars…but really, if we want to keep these things for our grand kids, perhaps we should have an electric drive train set aside in the garage for the day when the Government makes our old cars illegal with too many regulations, most of which stem from our gasoline engines….

Why worry you ask? They keep trying. sooner or later it will be just too costly for us to keep up. But I’d rather have an old Duster powered by General Electric then have to ride around in some goofy looking Future Pod designed by some geek with no design sense.

One of these days, designs like this Duster will have thier own section at our local car shows. Imagine Hoods up with a bunch of Electro-gear heads staring blissfully at a 600 HP crate electric motor…..

Tcassa WTF are you thinking? Electric motors dont sound like V8s. Hey I do have a question, how do you retain the use of the three speed with no clutch? That just boggles my mind.

With an electric motor, can it really ‘dust’ anything?
