1971 Challenger Convertible 440 Six Pack 4×4 For Sale

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

I’m told this has been on eBay before, but it was new to me. The Challenger is sitting on top of a 1978 Ramcharger. The work was done 20 years ago, before E-body prices went through the roof, but this was originally a 318 car. Pretty cool, huh? Winches front and rear are a nice touch. Only $69,000!!! More pics after the jump and you can see the for sale ad here. (Don’t you love it when sellers can’t spell convertible?)

all the tubes should go,other than that,i guess it’s versitile for just about anything, besides,i’ve always said,if you got your ride that high,it should be 4 wheel drive.

i think that is the worst way to do up a challenger.

It’s neat I guess, but what a waste of a amazing car.

it was done when they were’nt that rare so they didnt think they were hurting anything besides take off the shitty fender flares and the stupid extra tube bumpers and it would look good and the price is too high

Dumb then and now. It would take alot of money putting that back. Have to buy the entire suspension. Trying to sell it for the price of non jackass car. I mean jacked up car.

LMAO, the headline says asking 69K and the add says asking 79K. I hope thats a package deal with the house plus the dog.
Then “needed something to haul his 30′ ciggarette boat with” Hmmmm, wonder how that worked out with the wheel base of a blazer. LMAO, a fool and their money soon will part…….

That needs sanded down and given a nice cammo paint job. Then it would be perfect.

I don’t care if it was done 20 years ago or not, this is a waste of a Challenger.. My Mustang isn’t worth that much right now either but I would never dream of doing anything like this to it.. But since what’s done is done, I’d take it :)

Restore it to original, then I might briefly consider the $69,000 price tag…. Very briefly…. Then I’ll still LMAO!
What are you smokin’?
$69,000? Good drugs…. All I gotta say. LOL
$6900 I could see… Maybe pull a solid $25,000 if you restore it to original, but not like that.
Cool car, sad owner LOL

Only $69,000!!! I wouldn’t pay 10k for it. with 69k I would buy a Z and modified the crap out of it!

Moparmaniac07
Mar 19, 2009 at 5:55 am

and it was only a 318, so it still wouldn’t be a six figure car if it was in original condition

Surly two of those 0′s are typos, right?

this thing is sick looking. I don’t understand why everyone is getting mad over it if this thing was done 20 years ago when challengers weren’t worth much to begin with. I have a 70′ Challenger and hell no i wouldn’t do that to my car but it’s definatly not a waste of a car like everyone’s saying

yotaking22
Mar 19, 2009 at 4:45 am

DAMN.. 69,000 ARE YOU SHITIN ME?? I CAN THROW A 10 INCH LIFT ON A FERRARI AND SELL IT FOR A MILL.. LOL

The underkit of the Ramcharger does it no justice. And I still think “Ramcharger” was the coolest name for a car ever. I’ve seen other projects like this, but the Convertible Challenger doesn’t work for it.

The workmanship looks very nice, but it still makes me want to cry. Not only is it a Challenger, its a convertible too.

That thing is fuckin bad ass. I’m not a fan of things such as this, but if i had more money than i knew what to do with, i’d buy it, and a case of beer, grow out my mullet then go muddin shitfaced.

It may be a 20 year old job, but you don’t see too many other 60s muscle cars that got turned into 4x4s in the 80s. I can normally appreciate a marraige like this because it’s different, but this one is overdoing it.

Like everyone else said…. GREAT JOB SCREWING UP A NICE CAR!

I do give ya props for the creativity though…. bet it would beat my friends jeep….

19CAMARO85
Mar 18, 2009 at 4:26 pm

the car looks good but the 4×4 kills it.

its pretty sick but it makes me sad to see a car like that turned into a 4×4

Mar 18, 2009 at 3:20 pm

waste of a beutiful challenger

Sharpie1
Mar 18, 2009 at 11:45 am

it looks like crap, but I bet you that body could easily sit atop a nice tube frame with coil-overs and an IRS

TheMaro82
Mar 18, 2009 at 9:54 am

Well, i would choose my 4×4 camaro over this any day i just dont like the bumpers or even the fender flares, i think i might offer $70,000 for mine lol jk

I agree with Brett Powers, how could anyone do this to that car? Dont you know how much it would be worth if it wasn’t in this condition.

Mar 18, 2009 at 8:48 am

Good job, you ruined a beatiful car.

Actually looks in good condition. I wouldn’t buy it, but it’s certainty interesting.

i wonder what the dukes of hazard would have been like if they had this car instead.

How much for the dog? I could probably afford that!

Moparmaniac07
Mar 18, 2009 at 8:22 am

I’d drive it

Oafman
Mar 18, 2009 at 7:57 am

They must not take that off road much. I can see a 4×4 muscle car but a 4×4 convertible? That is just a waste. If you are going to make something silly at least make it useful.
