American cars suck period only worthy American cars are Mustang, Camaro, corvette and they are gas burning monsters until Detroit learns how to make high quality and reliable cars not 2 mention efficient and smart in design I am passing, long live Japanese cars. As in this case the Solstice is the dumbest design ever 2 come from GM, let’s say it’s convertible top and hardtop design are not weather friendly meaning you better watch the weather channel if you are planing to drive top down or have 2 leave the hardtop at home as it doesn’t fit in the trunk area LOL, Parts are expensive and there reliability is questionable Example: Ecotec cavalier, Pontiac Grand Am and Saturn Vue SUV Forget about hitting the local auto part and find parts there.

The thing I like about the Solstice is it doesn’t borrow any styling cues from other Pontiacs. The Z has the wheels and headlights from the Maxima, the general body line and tallights from the 350, and the spoiler from the Nismo 350. The Solstice, while the Pontiac counterpart for the Sky, and a knockoff of an Opel, its body panels are unique, aerodynamic, and downright sexy. It looks beastly coming down the road, cheaper insurance because of the 4-cylinder, and it’s American!

I don’t see the Solstice winning this showdown, but I still love everything about it.

If money wasn’t an issue, I would get the Z. If money was limited then I would get the solstice. Man down here that Z is starting off at $39,000 for the touring edition at the dealership. I was like hellzzz naw………not for no dam 332 hp and sucky torque. I would rather have the V8 R/T Challenger for that money.

this would be one of the hardest choices of my life, ’cause these two cars are about tied for my favorite cars on the market as of right now.
they both have such good aspects, like the economy of the solstice, and the straight up, raw, sports car attitude of the Z.
but if I had to choose, I wouldn’t, ’cause I can’t find a fault in either car.
car domain has finally come up with the best showdown ever.

Neither car sucks. The day I bought my Solstice GXP I was headed to Nissan to buy the Z. But was intrigued by the GM Ecotec 2.0 lt turbo with 260 hp stock. I’ve got the same engine now up to 320 hp, and it’s a screamer. If it was for the Solstice GXP it would the Z. But if I had to choose it would still be the Pontiac.

Jeez, this is the easiest one you’ve ever done…

370Z by far. In fact, I think that Car and Driver did a head-to-head of these two cars and the 370Z really crushed the Solstice. I’m an all-out American Car Supporter, but in this case, it’s gotta be the Nissan.

ok…… im goin with the solstice. most people vote for the Z just because of the name. in reality, the 2 cars could be interchangable in my driveway and i would be happy. but seriously, the weight loss in the solstice is what gets me. a car thats light and maneuvers well will get me over the clunky Z’s power hungry drivers. and dont hate cuz everyone has an opinion and that is mine. =D

as for the issue at hand, im a Z man personally (duh), and although i am not completely won over by the 370’s design, i would still take it over the Solstice, if nothing else than just for the name

Neither cuts it for me, proud Miata owner for 11 years.For those who say solstice this sucker doesn’t even belong here this Pontiac was designed to compete with the miata now MX-5 and it failed for having no trunk space and an overly complicated top design requiring you to stop the car and get off to raise or lower the top, sorry Soltice not a chance not even with a turbo it surpasses the Mazda in quality, handling, fun factor, simplicity of design and reliability thousands relized not even a turbo can hide the shortcomings of the Pontiac, reviews proof my story. Same goes now when compared with the great Nissan 370 Oh! cool removable hardtop some say. Well let’s say Pontiac was dumb enough 2 make the panel so big it wont fit in the trunk area forcing you 2 leave it behind at home, please make sure you watch the weather report or you will comeback driving a fish tank solstice. There solution a piece of vinyl that you can take with you LOL now how good will that look on? Will it leak once on the car? Thanks I wont volunteer 2 test it, The rest of this let down from Pontiac speaks clear enough.
