Hyundai Genesis vs. Lincoln MKS: Which Would You Choose?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
This week’s Showroom Showdown pits a RWD V8 import vs. a FWD V6 domestic! Thanks to Michael for suggesting this match up! The Hyundai weighs 4,006 pounds and has a healthy 368 hp on tap. The Lincoln weighs 4,127 pounds and has just 270 hp. Both cars start just south of $40k. So, which would you choose?

if im gonna drive a luxury sedan i dont really care much about power. its not like i would race either of these cars so i would go with the MKS just because it looks more luxurious and expensive

The Genesis is wat the MKS should be. Not that I don’t like the MKS, but the Genesis is a traditional luxury car. I say Genesis, but I do the like MKS too

I have been fortunate to a job in the automotive business and have had the opportunity to drive both vehicles. The Genesis wins hands down.More power, better styling, more bang for the buck. The only thing that I noticed on the lincoln that it had a quietier ride than the genesis and that was about it.

That Lincoln is just too sexy… plus if I got either of those cars I wouldnt be too concerned about performance.. imho.

That a tough choice but considering that a lincoln is a luxury ford aka fix-or-repair-daily I have to go with the lighter more powerful genesis. but as far as looks only I’d take the mks in heartbeat!

Some of you people are so ignorant. That Genesis pwns the MKS.

DUBFanatic, the lincoln is the FWD one, not the Hyundai. I’d pick the Genesis.

The Lincoln. Although the Hyundai is rear wheel drive and has a V8, it’s still a Hyundai. plus I’m not a fan of the grille on the Hyundai; ugly and generic. Plus the MKS is going to be getting the EcoBoost good for about 355hp.

The Genesis is a beautiful car, but I don’t like that it is front wheel drive. So I’ll have to go for the Lincoln.

MKS all the way….both looks and refinement…Hyundai is getting by with putting the cheap stuff in the right places for a good initial appearance….after that…well…

hey ballmoney. i never bought my ford from a ford dealer. I picked it up at a used car lot. I also got a warantee from a third party. besides ford is better off the GM and Chrysler combined. What POS do you drive? just wondering

Well. Im a Chevy man myself. I own a 96 caprice 9c1. But seriously. I know is a Hyundai. But I see a change coming. I’ll take the 368 hp RWD Genesis over any ford (except the GT of course). I mean seriously…the looks on ppl faces when u pul up next to their mustangs and challegers….sleeper here.

Mar 25, 2009 at 10:28 pm
Eh, I’d have to take the Genesis. For the money, you get more power, less weight, RWD, and a reliable car with a great warranty. Now that’s not saying the MKS is less reliable or has a shittier warranty, but at that price all it really has is name and some luxury items that is also available with the Hyundai. Genesis FTW.

I’d choose the lincoln of course. Only If I had that kind of money. I stand behind a product that has a reputation, and not a bad one at that *cough* Hyundai *cough*. But then again Hyundai is going after a new market they have not yet targeted. And I saw this being test driving on TV, a real race car driver said it handled very nice, and could compete in the market.

You would be surprised how nice this car is overall! Good Job Ford! Pretty much an upscale version of the Mercury Milan, which is also a good family car!

I test drove the Lincoln and I absolutely loved it! Props to Hyundai for making a good looking car that isn’t directly copied off another vehicle.
My vote is for the Lincoln MKS.

I hate to chose a Korean import over American, but the Genesis beats it NO CONTEST. As of now I would pick it over ANY new luxury car. Hyundai FTW!!!

when i go to get my oil changed at my local ford dealer, I step into the showroom and head straight for the lincoln. its just a more beautiful car. i like the genesis, but there is just no comparison. The lincoln is what it is. when you show up at party and someone asks you what do you drive, are you going to say “i drive a hyundai” or are you gonna say “i drive a lincoln.” i’d stick with the hand-made suit instead of the sears special.

In these current times, I would choose the Lincoln. You’ve got to support the American companies and it really is a great automobile. But in any other time, I would go with the Genesis. But count my vote for the Lincoln. =D

Mar 25, 2009 at 12:13 pm
This is a tough one. I saw a new MKS at a stop light, all white with 24″ rims. I’m not too fond of large rims, but man that car had a presence about it. That lincoln is one of the better designs FOMOCO has come up with nowadays. But, RWD will be the factor so I choose the GENESIS along with its 368hp.

RWD any day folks. Hyundai gets my vote.

Mar 25, 2009 at 9:55 am
Lincoln, my reasoning is this. The Genisis looks like the boys from Hyundai took all the current luxury cars from the top companies, threw em in a blender and this is what came out. Design theft. Front from a Toyota rear mixed between a Mercedes and a BMW.

the Lincoln MKS just looks awsome while the Genesis is as posh girls say, “So Yesterday”. The Genesis honestly looks like a Toyota Camary!

I say the Genesis only because it’s “right wheel drive.” That said, isn’t the MKS about to get the new Twin Turbo engine package that is in the Taurus?
