THIS IS THE ACTUAL PORSCHE 911 DRIVEN BY CHARACTER 14K IN THE MOVIE DEATH RACE. THE STUDIOS SPENT BETWEEN $250K – $300K ON EACH CAR BUILT FOR THE MOVIE TO ACCOMPLISH THE “PRISONER BUILT LOOK” THEY WERE LOOKING FOR. IT FEATURES FRONT MOUNTED PROP 50 CALIBER GUNS AND A ROCKET LAUNCHER AND WELL AS A REAR MOUNTED MISSILE LAUNCHER. THE BODY WAS WIDENED TO FIT THE EXTRA WIDE REAR WHEELS, FAUX ARMOR WAS APPLIED. THIS WAS ONE OF THE HERO / CLOSE UP CARS, NOT A STUNT CAR. IT WAS NOT DAMAGED DURING THE FILMING AND IT FEATURES ALL OF THE MOVIE SEEN COSMETICS INCLUDING THE WILD INTERIOR WITH GAUGES, SWITCHES AND WIRES ALL OVER THE PLACE.

WHEN IT COMES TO MOVIE CARS, THE LEAST ORDINARY THEY ARE, THE MORE VALUABLE THEY BECOME BECAUSE THEY ARE MORE EASILY RECOGNIZED. PLUS, EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT RECOGNIZED, THEY ARE A SIGHT TO SEE THAT DRAWS MAJOR ATTENTION.

ONLY 4 PORSCHES WERE MODIFIED FOR MOVIE USE, THIS INCLUDES THE STUNT CARS THAT WERE HEAVILY DAMAGED. ONLY A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE CLAIM TO OWNING ONE OF THESE UNIQUE ATTENTION GETTING SHOW CARS. A 1 OF 25 BUILT 1970 CHEVELLE, AS RARE AS IT MAYBE, IS STILL A 1970 CHEVELLE TO ON-LOOKERS. A CAR LIKE THIS WILL STEAL THE ATTENTION AT ANY SHOW. MORE THAN A SHOW CAR, IT IS AN ATTRACTION. FULLY DOCUMENTED.

Well i didn’t know that movie companies give their cars id numbers but anyway it should also have a real vin. It’s not like they started from scratch, they started with a real car.In any condition the data about it is still wrong, especially the year.If the engine is really a 4cyl it means that the base car was most likely a 912E from ’75 or ’76 (series 930).

PorscheMania: Most Movie Cars don’t have real VINs. They are not street legal. Basically jsut a collectors item. Also that add is a copy and paste from Volo’s site (see my previous post for web addy).

On what the hell did they spend 250K and all that to ruin a 911.
Ooo,and there is no such thing as a 1990 4 cyl 911,only the 912 was a 4 cyl.From the body is looks to be a 930 series,1990 is 964.
I also verified the Vin and its fake and that makes me think that the add is also fake.

Never saw the movie but it looks incredibly gay. What an undignified ending, per se, for such a legendary sports car.

Theres no way its street legal: No taillights, blocked windows in multiple locations, the headlights are blocked off and no blinkers to speak of. This will never see a public road again.

08iSt, watch the movie and the interior won’t bother you. You’ll understand why it looks so nasty.

that interior is just…..horrid. how can you sit in that?

As someone recently forced to watch that movie 3 times in 10 days (don’t ask) I can say with some certainty that the Porsche plays such a large role I never even noticed it. At the same time, it would be interesting to see how long it takes to get pulled over and hogtied by nervous cops driving around in something like that.

Wonder if it’s road legal? o_O

The thing that hurts the most is they destroyed a REAL 911 for that.
