Clean Green Hornet

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Josh’s Hornet has already been through a full restoration, and he promises a built AMC 360 is on the way to replace the little 232 straight-six. Check out his page–I dig how he almost matches the car in his graduation robes.

Wagenwerks: Nice Videos!

By Weston Henderson

Weston Henderson

So these guys obviously have some serious production value. And a LOT of time on their hands. Pretty sure we need to have these guys hook up the CarDomain staff and make some similar videos for our beater cars! Check out my other favorite Wagenwerks video below the jump, and check out more of their stuff here.

Hehe… looks like maybe convenience isn’t the only reason that “zipcars love a sleepover.” Mega props to dhillaz for this astrological gem.

London to Maranello and Back, In a Ford GT and a Dodge Viper

By Rich Truesdell

Automotive Traveler

One of the great things about the life I’ve led for the last 10 years as an independent editor is that I’ve put together some really great road trip adventures. And quite frankly, none was better than the trip I took back in the summer of 2005, driving a Ford GT and a Dodge Viper from London to the Nürburgring, then to the gates of the Ferrari factory in Maranello, then on to Le Mans, and finally back to London, all in six glorious days. In my mind, it’s the ultimate road trip and I had a great friend along for the ride. More…

How to: Simple Adaptor-Plate Fabrication, or How to Save $34

By David Belau

dartslantsix

If you followed my independent rear suspension build, you know that I wasn’t happy with how the brakes were working. I decided that what I needed was a smaller-bore master cylinder. This would provide more line pressure and enhanced braking power. Instead of going back to an original master cylinder with a smaller bore, I chose to install a late-model aluminum master. This one’s from an early Dakota, and offers a few advantages–it’s much lighter and it doesn’t leak like the old style.  So what does all this have to do with fabrication? The new cylinder uses 2 studs to mount, whereas the old one uses 4 studs. An adapter plate is needed. These are available from a number of vendors for about $40, but what fun is that? I’ve got more skills than money. Follow along as I make an adapter for about $6.

Best Redneck Send-Off Ever: Man Buried in '67 Chevy Pickup With Rifle By His Side

By David Clarke

highspeedhijinks

Last month in Sutton, West Virgina, Albert Dancy Jr. was shot during a domestic dispute that involved his ex-wife and some other guy. At his funeral, his 24-year-old son Adam thought it was best for his dad to go out the way he had always wanted: buried in the bed of his beloved 1967 Chevy pickup. Not wanting to go into the afterlife unarmed, Dancy had requested his pocket knife and his deer rifle to be buried with him as well. As Adam recalled of his father, “He said it always joking around, but he said it for so many years it was pretty much serious to me…I always took him seriously. It was the last thing I could do for him.” Your can read the rest of the story here.

Goodguys Costa Mesa Meet

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Ah, the Goodguys shows. Sure, it’s kind of an older crowd on average, but the mood is always laid back and frankly there’s no better place than these shows to get an eyeful of really nicely-done 50s and 60s domestics. I’m loving this first-gen Corvette Nomad conversion, based on a factory concept that was never produced. Brian over at BangShift has posted a ton of galleries from this show–check them out for more amazing rides!

Car Buyer Finds Shocking Photos and Letter In His New Ride's Door Panel

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

We all get pretty stoked when we find a build sheet or something while dismantling our rides. But imagine if you found full photodocumentation of your car wrecked, sawed in half, rebuilt, and refinished as though nothing had happened.  This guy in Russia got the shock of his life after he popped a door panel to replace a speaker, then discovered a stack of photos and a letter from the former owner documenting the tribulations of his Audi’s previous existence. I guess this is why in America, we have Salvage titles. Straight from English Russia, here’s the translated letter, and check out the unbelievable photos after the jump.

Dear friend,

Thanks for buying my car. Just some time before I sold it I got into an accident driving this car. Don’t worry I am ok and the car was insured. So I’ve got the money from insurance company then went to scrap metal site and found everything I needed. Bit from there bit from everywhere and I’ve got all things I needed (see photos). Then I welded everything into one piece. And here it is, almost like new. I remember that people were complaining – “What a pity that my car is so sporty but not red!” – you shouldn’t complain anymore as you can see the driver’s door is red from inside.

JTP FC3S Drift Truck

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

Over the next few weeks, as everyone anxiously awaits the start of the racing season, lots of car builders from all over are preparing their new cars. While this particular car is not intended for professional drifting use, I thought I’d just show some snaps of this Mazda FC3S truck that’s being built at JTP Motorsports, the garage of Formula D FC3S driver Justin Pawlak.

While we have shown you other FC3S trucks on Speedhunters previously, this particular FC3S truck is a bit different because it’s being made from an FC3S convertible! Just look at the way it sits! Outstanding. Continue reading at Speedhunters
