Tesla Roadster On eBay
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
Hard to believe, but someone out there has already gotten tired of their new Tesla. One of the electric roadsters has shown up on eBay! It’s got around 500 miles on the clock, and the seller wants $100K. Maybe they oughtta wait until gas prices go up again to sell it…
Muscular Ride: The 1966 AMC Rambler Rebel 2-door Hardtop
Automotive Traveler
One of the great things about CarDomain is the number of unusual cars that get profiled here. I guess that’s due in part to the more than 600,000 ride pages, and it seems that I’m not the only one who has a thing for unusual AMC’s. There have been two Hornets in the blog just in the last week!
As part of a series we’ve just started over on Automotive Traveler on California “black plate” cars, we’ve posted a profile on this very rare 4-speed 1966 Rambler Rebel 2-door hardtop. This was a one-year-only body style, and with just 7,512 produced, you’re not likely to see one even at an all-AMC show. It’s a highly-optioned car–all that’s missing is power windows–and it’s powered by AMC’s (not Chevy’s) 327-vubic-inch V8. While it lacks true muscle-car cred, it was a very quick car for its time, able to sprint from 0 to 60 in less than 8 seconds with a top speed of nearly 120 mph–certainly competitive with other small-block intermediates from the mid-sixties. Got to love those optional Turbo Cast wheel covers!

A Quick Tour of Richard Griot’s Personal Garage
Weston Henderson
Last weekend Ryan and I headed down to a Fife-based garage outfitting and car care company called Griot’s Garage, to take a tour of their warehouse and the owner’s personal man-cave. Griot’s Garage has been around since 1990 and has been working on bringing forward the most innovative and time-saving tools and devices for your personal garage or shop. Richard Griot, the owner, described the company as “the culmination of 20 years of my love for cars.” And he simply wants to help others share in that love.

Cool Build: Bergenholtz Turbo 3-Rotor Mazda RX8
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
For some reason, people have a tendency to underestimate Bergenholtz Racing. That’s a mistake. Big mistake. Bergenholtz Racing was the most successful privateer drag racing team in the NHRA Sport Compact Series, using unrelenting determination and ingenuity to clown the big dollar budget of GM over and over and over again. Don’t believe it? There’s a display case full of Wallies (the coveted NHRA Wally Parks trophy) at Ron Bergenholtz’s Orange County home to prove it. Check out the build at Speedhunters.

The Ultimate Guide To Parking Wherever The Hell You Want
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
Jalopnik is running this pretty hilarious how to about getting away with parking like a total jerk, and it’s pretty timely for those of us who just moved to Fremont. I agree with most of their advice, especially this one: if you’re going to park where you want, you’ve got to accept the occasional ticket. Cost of doing business, right? I used to have this awesome secret “Visitor Parking” space on my campus, tucked under a suspension footbridge, a 2-minute walk to my office. The 1 hour limit never got enforced because the parking cowboys were too lazy to get themselves all the way over to that end of the gorge. Hey, if they got me maybe once or twice per semester with a 20-dollar ticket, it sure beat the hell out of paying hundreds of dollars a year for the privilege of parking in the godforsaken B-lot, 4 miles from the nearest university-owned building.
How about you–how do you score a sweet parking space while all the other chumps just circle the block?

The Ride A Cop Would Kill For
By Jen Dunnaway

Carbon Motors recruited police input to come up with their E7 prototype–the ultimate cop dream car. This baby will be running a 300-hp clean-diesel motor, 360-degree flashing LED’s, bullet-resistant door panels, integrated shotgun mounts (!), rear suicide doors, and voice-recognition software that scans and identifies license plates. Philadelphia police officer Carl Latorre says, “I am so excited about this car. This car rates up there with cops carrying automatic weapons to combat what the criminals carry now.” Wow (and yikes). With a 0-60 of 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 155, the purpose-built cop car sounds like it’ll rival most criminals’ getaway vehicles. What do you think–would you want police in your town to be so equipped? More pics below the jump, and read up at CNN. Thanks to Mike for the tip!

Taking the World's Fastest for a Spin: Ride-Along in the SSC Ultimate Aero
Bick66
I was pretty stoked last week about the SSC Ultimate Aero for sale on eBay and when I heard that that very car was going to be in town on the weekend I went completely out of my mind. On Saturday, Jen and I went and checked out the Exotics at Redmond Town Center event where the Aero was supposed to appear, and we found that Jerod Shelby himself, founder and CEO of Shelby Super Cars, was showing off the actual car used to break the World Production Speed Record. Better yet, we even got to ride in it! Click below the jump for my impressions of the ride-along.

Fremont Day Two
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Fremont Day Two has been relatively uneventful. For the second day in a row I’ve been able to find a nice spot for my Volvo down by the bike path if I get in by 8AM or so. Stephanie’s red Trans Am sticks out like a sore thumb in this ‘hood!
More pics of CarDomain staff rides and random Fremont rides after the jump!

Basketcase Rescue: '72 Camaro
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
While this isn’t the first 2nd-gen Camaro we’ve had on Basketcase Rescue, it’s probably the one with the greatest potential for a gorgeous resto. CarDomain member Manuel picked it up this weekend for 500 bucks. The car’s got no engine, no windshield, a caved-in rear quarter and a mashed roof. Fortunately, Manuel’s got a spare 350 lying around, and has brought Camaros back from the dead plenty of times before. Sounds like it’s in the right hands! Check back on Manuel’s ride page to follow the build.
