That is just … amazing.

Talking about ricers with turbos, There’s a neon in the town I live in that sounds like a flipping airplane. He claims he can beat anyone, I’m waiting for my boyfriend to roll up next to him in his cts-v so we can wave bye bye.

jdpkaoz – trust me i hate hearing the little fart cans to, probably more than you do, im just saying turbos ain’t just for ricers and a V8 don’t sound bad with a turbo

Actually, Z06 came from an RPO code in 1963 that included a larger gas tank, and upgraded brake and suspension components – a track pack by todays standards. The 1963 Corvette top-line engine was a fuel injected 327 rated at 360 hp, not a Big block like mentioned. If you wanted a C2 Big block Corvette from the factory, you would have to wait until 1965 when the 396ci was introduced.

Beautiful Z06 here, I love the C6R hood!

thanks for the history update southernguy but i am just saying tho. I not a fan of freaking ricers and hearing rice rockets with turbochargers it annoys the hell out of me.

jdpkaoz – rather you know it or not but the hot rodders back in the 40s and 50s with the V8s were the first ones to actually do performance mods to their 30s fords were actually the first ones to use turbos, they would take turbos off of the 18 wheelers and stick them on their V8s so actually american muscle is the first ones to use turbos, so i guess you could say if it wasn’t for those V8s back then, the ricers now wouldn’t have turbos on their little cars

That Is one heck of car!!! LSX all the way! jbkaoz imports have turbo lag muscles don’t. as far as the SRT’s MOPARs are no go cars

Thing is a beast! Turbo or supercharger it’s got the power to punch people in the mouth!

What ever happened to sticking with superchargers for American Muscle and leaving the turbo for ricers. Even a twin turbo was all ready dropped on a SRT-8 Challenger wtf.

jetkilr – the reason its probably kind of slow for the RWHP it has is the gearing, he probably has it geared to drive on a daily basis and on the interstate, not for the dragstrip or track

I love the Vette, one of my favorite 2dr cars! There were a couple of nice ones at this year’s SEMA show, the twin turbo mounting at the rear is just phenominal! I’m sure this one is getting better boost response with the turbos mounted under the center of the car. Either way, this is a bad ass car! LSX + TT = FURIOUS DOMINATION!

not to say I told you so, but this car has been in my favorite rides for a few weeks. LSX+TTs=lots of power. The one thing I don’t like about it: automatic.

Very nice! I just LOVE Vettes. Red or yellow are the best colors for them though.

The reason why there is no SS Corvette is because of what Zora Arkus Duntov stated in an interview. He said that all Corvette’s are SS’s. So if you name a Corvette a SS, you would you’d be stating the obvious. There was only 1 Corvette that was actually “called” an SS and it was the 1957 Corvette Sebring SS race car/ concept car.

Bret is right, and the Z06 comes from the Z06 option that was availible on corvettes in ’67 that came with a 550hp 427 big block and cost more than the base price of the corvette itself.

Well first off the ZO6 has a naturally aspirated 7.0 liter and the ZR1 has a supercharged 6.3 Liter. The ZR1 has better brakes and pays homage to the ZR1 Vette from the 90′s that had the LT5 DOHC V8.

Yeah kinda, Why’d Chevy do that though?
like why did they call it a Z06 instead of an SS

SouthernGuy8503
Apr 5, 2009 at 10:11 am

TOP – well i guess you could say the ZO6 would be the SS model, if you think of the corvette models with the camaro models from the muscle car era, the Z06 would be like the camaro ss and then the vette ZR1 would be like a camaro yenko, if that makes sense

I obviously don’t like Chevy, but the Corvette is the only exception. I’ve always liked the vette, and this one looks great!

Hey, i have a question.
How come the Corvette doesnt have an “SS” model?
And whats the diffrence between the Z06 and ZR1?

Holly Molly! That thing is awesome. How’s the gills in the hood, and the numbers it’s running is amazing. Great work!

i would love to have that Z06, it could probably beat the new ZR1 if the ZR1 was stock, but i’ve seen twin turbo vette’s here and there, its cool that the turbos are actually mounted at the rear of the car right in front of the exhaust tips, them being that far from the engine you’d think it would lose boost from the air having to travel from the rear to the engine but you don’t lose any boost actually, i like that color to, i’ve always wanted a black vette though, chrome rims and tinted windows, would look bad ass, i gave the car 5 stars down the board on the ride page

I’m down for the fastest Z06 on the planet! That’s pretty FAST!
