What Did You Do This Weekend?
By Jen Dunnaway

Since I got new tires for my AMC Concord last week, I figured it was finally time to give my daily driver the thorough going-through that it had been going without. I replaced a passenger-side ball joint that was close to falling out, and I swapped out the clapped old shocks for new KYB’s all the way around. I threw in a set of platinum plugs, installed a new cap and rotor, and replaced the crusty old plug wires with 8mm Taylors. I changed the oil and swapped in my new K&N air filter. The Concord totally purrs now, and is a tight-sprung handling machine to boot. Tomorrow I’m taking it for alignment.
How about you? What did you do this weekend?

Replaced the PS tie rod end on my ‘bird. Gotta do the DS when I get the chance, then onto the rear suspension. Trying to find springs to drop the rear 2 inches. Guess its time for the rear shocks to go.

Waxed and de-swirled on Sunday with Meguiars.

Got tracking information on my shipment of 2′x4′x.063″ anodized aluminum diamond plate, to be used to mod the door panels, other interior parts, also an underhood mod and/or a rear hatch area mod. Just gotta get what’s in my head into my car soon.

I washed and waxed both my rides, but with the frakking heavy pollen coating on them now, you wouldn’t know it!

Jen, I’m a little disappointed that you decided to use white lettered tires instead of white striped tires, but the rest of the maintenance items sound like you’re giving the Concord a new lease on life. I’ll bet she never handled better!

I finally mounted my Goodyear Eagle GT tires onto my newly powdercoated (black) factory wheels. I havent balanced them yet because I was looking for a low pro stick on wheel weight.

As for the Caprice, I returned the header wrap kit I got in exchanged for two rolls of black header wrap. The kit only came in “natural” colored wrap and I found the ties at a local parts store cheap

It’s not often you hear cap and rotor when describing a tune up any more.

That’s awesome Jen… nothing like a new set of shocks and a tune-up to keep you rollin’. Nice garage too… wish I had something that big.

I finally finished parting out my Escort GT.
I also helped a friend cut up a 79 Subaru wagon so he could put everything but the firewall in his basement parts storage room.

Gathered up parts for the big swap meet next weekend, made a list of parts I need to buy. Did some gremlin chasing in the GTP and cleaned out the Catera to sell it (Quite unsuccessfully I might add).

started picking and choosing strut spring combos leaning towards KYBs with Sprint springs 1.75inch drop or the HKS 1.5inch drop Not going with Eibach too pricey for my taste and over rated.

I spent friday all day helping my brother-in-law fix my sisters 528 and driving him to get missing parts, and sunday I was all over the LA area driving around to visit family and friends and ended up at the rain forest cafe in downtown disney with my girlfriend. And last according to the poll results I’m painting the rims black.
