Ford Fiesta vs. Honda Fit: Which Would You Choose?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I came away pretty impressed with the 2011 Ford Fiesta last week. Yes, the Fit costs more, but I don’t think it would be fair to put the hot new Fiesta up against something bland like a Yaris or Versa. The Fit has a 117 hp 1.5 liter four banger and the Fiesta has a 118 hp 1.6 liter four banger. Both cars are available with a 5 speed manual. The base Fit starts at $14,750 while the Fiesta should start around $12,000. So let’s say you are comparing a base Fit to a better equipped Fiesta. Which would you choose?

to Mud4x42008: Japanese cars are extremely reliable. Check out my infiniti… it has 216K miles and still runs as if it were brand new. Thats on the original engine and transmission

Too Mud4*42008 before you go shooting your mouth off japan does not have abortions in that country its China you dumbass second why are the american carcompanies struggling because in the past decade they have not made a reliable car and i drive american cars all saturns made in tennessee not mexico like the ford fiesta and i choose the fit honda legendary reliability and also put up a ride page or stop using cardomain retard.

Yes CamryAllDay, the Fit can actually seat 5 adults fairly comfortably. The 10 cup holders are actually quite handy, two of them in the front are placed right in front of the AC vent so your that drink your over sized drink (like a route 44 or larger) will not be in the way of the shifter and be chilled; another set of over sized ones are in the center of the rear and the remaining six are convenient for medium sized drinks or as coin holders.

A buddy of mine has an ’09 fit, and it’s pretty slick. It’s very spacious, plenty of power, and seems to be well put together. Now I have yet to drive the new Fiesta, but the bit they did on Top Gear is pretty convincing. Especially if you plan on getting away from baddies in a mall.

Honda FIT. American car aren’t very reliable and can cost way to much to fix. The price is right for the FIT because of the flashy and sporty interior, but, the price of the fiesta is only low because GM is going bankrupt.

Mud4x42008, you’re probably the only one in the world who claims that Japanese motors are unreliable. There are numerous Japanese cars with over 300k on the odometer. That’s not to say American motors can’t go as far, they surely can, but your claim is false. Also, the Fusion hybrid is also assembled in Mexico, along with other Ford models. And you know what? It might be a good thing to make oriental people have abortions if they have too many girls (or kids for that matter), otherwise they would be like us, TONS of money spent on welfare because people have too many kids and can’t afford them.

Fiesta. More power for the money. Maybe it’s the name or maybe it’s the styling, but the fiesta seems like it has more personality.

Fiesta all the way the FIT is so ugly and not american made. the fusion hybrid is made in the usa also so don’t lie i take a car from mexico then japan. ppl in japan are communist if they have too many new born girls they have a obrosion so japan sucks. the Fiesta all the way and its american made and looks a hell of alot better then a fit the fit is a stuiped name honda is junk. NO one can say honda is good because thats all lies. and im a chevy man honda send your junk back to japan no more honda. I seen at a honda dealer ppl protesting against honda and had sighns that honda are rats and the truth is its true honda makes junk and are over priced. and honda is just junk.

I’ll give both a chance, but the Fiesta is looks more “fit” than the Fit. Something other than the name screams “PARTAAAAAAYYY!!”
I definitely want to see an SVT version, or maybe even Shelby model. Can anyone say “Shelby GT100″?

I love Fords but there is know way I could tell someone I drive a Fiesta.
bboysyck
Apr 16, 2009 at 7:32 am
since the fiesta still dont have a set price yet there is still a possibility that it will cost either as much or more than the fit. and the fit already has more of a street cred than the fiesta, or even ford, since the fit is a honda then it automatically get the reliable and dependable engine cred. and since i like tuning cars not matter id take the fit. but i would still try the fiesta to see how it compares.

I seem to forget if it’s the Ford Ka or Fiesta that’s built off of the Mazda2 platform. I think so long as Ford keeps bringing us the more euro/ausie-tuned cars a la new Taurus and, in terms of looks anyway, the restyled Fusion, then I’d be more and more inclined to go Ford then ever before. “Can i has M0ndeo n Falc0nz plz”?” I recall a review of a Ford from Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson saying, “Ever since the Focus came out in the 1998–or whenever it was–Ford’s have always had a certain feel to them: they have the solidity of a Volkswagen with the sportiness of a Lotus” or something to that effect. If that sums up the Ford of Europe and they start bringing that stuff here, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a dramatic shift from would-be-import buyers giving Ford a closer look.
I’m not one for brand loyalty nor do I ‘fight the good fight’ and trump “Buy American” with every other breath I take. BUT, if the American equivalent is JUST as good (and if not better, obviously), then why not buy American? If Ford’s Fiesta can at least MATCH the Honda Fit, than I’d buy the Ford. If not, then Honda.
So, seeing how this is a new Ford and they are bringing over some of that Euro/Aussie flavor, it’s a newer chassis than the Fit’s, and if it can at least match the Fit within the parameters most people are concerned about when looking at this class of car (I say just match as it already has just +1 point for being American), I would take the Ford Fiesta over Honda’s Fit.

Fiesta more bang for your buck plus you can by a luxury package that has leather and its $2,750 cheaper than the fit and it has a whole one more horse power than the fit that makes a whole difference in speed lol but I would still rather a V8

Who are you more wiling to pay, the corporate rip-offs? Or the working American families? People like you need to chill on the stereotype bro.

If all you care about is utility, then the Honda Fit is a sound and reasonable choice. But if you want to drive a car that puts a smile on your face, the there’s no choice: the Ford Fiesta is absolutely stunning, and from what I’ve read, a total hoot to drive. I guess it all boils down to whether you’re a left brain person or a right brain person. Me, screw the logic, I want fun, and that means I’m waiting for the new Fiesta to make its way to my nearest showroom.

I haven’t seen the Fit in person. I have seen the Focus in person. And making the possibly wrong assumption that the same type of design and materials go into the Festiva, I’d have to go with the Fit. The Focus interior has a lot of plastic, like a lot of cars, but it LOOKS plastic. The panels and parts fit together badly, and it reminds me of one of those young kids’ snap together model cars, cheap and ill-fitting.
I like the look of the new Festiva, but I think my vote is going to the Fit.

Fit, hands down. Disregard the price, then tally up what both cars can be equipped with from the factory along with.
Does the Fiesta have 10 cup holders?
How about three-way folding rear seats with an integrated storage box?
What about dual glove boxes?
The GE8 Fit does along with a few other creature comforts, therefore would be the better car.
