Wild Aero For Mercedes SLR

The Real JDM

FAB Design in Switzerland created this wild aero package for the SLR. I really wonder if this is necessary for such a limited production car. I’d be surprised if they sold more than two or three of these.

At first I wasn’t sure what I felt about the kit—it certainly is wild! After a bit more time to digest it, I think they did a commendable job. I like the extended lines on the widebody fenders, I find that to be unique touch. The symmetry on the rear is quite interesting between the wing and the rear bumper/diffuser. Honestly I don’t like the wing design and I doubt its functionality to some degree, but I have to admit that they integrated it nicely into the rear bumper/profile design. Then the long nose front bumper… I wanted to hate it, but I like the drama it creates. The SLR is already a supercar but this long nose front bumper especially gives it more presence.

Overall I find it to be a very unique kit and surprisingly controversial for such an upper class semi-conservative supercar.

Oh my goodness!!..this looks awesome!!!…it`s just the base of the boot spoiler/wing i don`t like….otherwise it`s wild!!..luvvit!!!

If I am given a chance to own this or the original SLR. I’d choose the ORIGINAL SLR.. The front just looks.. wrong, and the GT wing will limit it from reaching 200mph

I LOVE IT!! even though its a little “TUNER”-ish the wing needs to come down about four inches and have the mounts on the sides. the triangle wing mount is a little too “tuner” for such a nice car.

I think it looks like crap. If you loose the rear spoiler and the front bumper then it would look good.

I like it. Truly different. It does give off a bat mobile look due to the front. These are already a beast.

the top of the fenders and quartepanels are a throwback to the 300sl. i like that little bit of detail, but other than that…eh… just something for rich people to waste their money on

Hmmm i like the sides and the widebody fenders, but i would ditch that spoiler and go for a low profile one and redo the front bumper, the boxy look likes it look corny and cheese grater like. The Hamann McLaren SLR Volcano looks much better.

i afree with HRM1982 benz is overated, its not what it use to be. my dad was think of buying either a audi a6, bmw 5series or a benz e320 and once we test drove the e320 hes like its the most sluggish and most boring car ever i might buy one when im 80…but when we test drove the bimmer ( after an hour test drive) he said that bimmers are the way to go powerful, quiet. this is coming from a guy that learned how to drive in a benz, wrecked 3 benzs and later was a mercedes diesel technician…oh and the audi wasnt bad either it came in a close 2nd….but the benz was awful….the 4maric was loud and uncomfortable. i test drove the audi and bmw becaue my dads freind was the salesman and he was nice. but the benz was from a diffrent dealership

hmm i dont know Mercedes to me has always been over rated. dont get me wrong i like German power but i would go with a audi. but hey thats just me.

Overall, I like it – gives the car an aggressive purposeful presence.

Although I’d change a few things if I could.
~ Remove the ‘extended line’ on the rear widebody fender. Make the rear fender smoother, flow better.
~ Use of LEDs in the rear bumper tail lights to match the existing tail lights. (or remove them altogether).
~ Not sure about the side exhausts at the front. Exhausts like this are illegal in some countries (fumes to cabin area etc.) – maybe 3-4 round or triangle exhausts in the rear bar triangle bit. – having said that, I still like the old-school side exhausts.
~ Side vents in the front bar seem a bit dated. They look like they were just copied from many other front bar vents. The angle of the lines are wrong (on these vents). Would’ve looked better with a vent that matched the rest of the car’s design.
~ Front nose bonnet emblem – bring back the Merc. Logo!!!

As for comparing this to the ‘Mansory’, They are both wicked rides, just aimed at a different driver’s style.

The SLR is a Kick Ass ride. But they killed the new design with that huge wing in the back. How much would this new kit go for anyway?

They sort of riced out this half a million dollar beast with that big wing. The kit looks ok though I suppose. Still prefer the original.

wow…….i dont know what to think lol….i want to hate it but i cant im not a fan of that wing but it flows with the bumper if i could ever afford this car i would never buy that kit…though after letting it soak in looks pretty sick

im usually not into that type of look but it actually looks real good, it looks like a stealth bomber even the color, i also like the 3 exhaust tips on each side coming out of the front fenders behind the front wheels
