Toyota FJ Cruiser vs. Nissan Xterra: Which Would You Choose?

Xterra, I hate the design of FJ Cruiser, actually, I hate all Toyota’s cars… If I could chose and H3, i’d frefer that

Neither You guys are hard up if those are your choices. I would take a 1998-9 GU Nissan Patrol with the 4.2 litre diesel. It will go anywhere

So the Xterra has more hp and torque but it doesn’t have half what the FJ has and besides Toyota’s are always better anyways lol!!!

I would go with the xterra. The fj may be able to fit into smaller spaces because its shorter but the xterra puts out more horses and more torque and the xterra looks way better. I’m not puttin fj’s down because they are pretty sharp too but I would still go with the nissan.

fj is made with off road in mind , the xterra is turning into a confortable ride. and is getting into suv looks. so even do i love nissan , ill say fj better offroad.

Nissan. The FJs look slick when modded out, off road lights and big tires etc. The Xterra looks cool totally stock. Plus, the Xterras are a blast to drive, on and off road, as long as you shut off the traction control.

I would go with the Toyota FJ Cruiser, my buddy has the Nissan XTerra it gets horrible gas mileage. It was horrible off road, its got low ground clearance. I was not impressed with the Nissan

The first time I saw an FJ, I saw only the retro front end and said “WOW!”. But when I got to see the sides and the rear, I forgot about it. Xterra all the way here!!!

FJ looks more old school and for sure much better than the Xterra, but that’s only in looks, the Xterra has a better engine (VQ based), and it’s one of the best in the world, more powerful, the whole car is more spaceous therfore more practical, and I bet it’s a lot more fun as well

This is basically the same as saying Tacoma or Frontier, since they have the same drive-train and majority of parts. But, for styling, the FJ has that old-school meets innovation thing going on! I’ll take the FJ! But I’d rather wait until (God Willing) either Hummer comes out with the H4 or Ford with their Bronco! The H4 being the extreme off-roader!

Nissan’s quality has been lagging plus the only way in hell I’d ever get back into an SUV is if I were to treat it like an actual truck: off-roading, throwing crap in it, etc. Therefore, hands-down, it would be the better off-roading, throw-crap-in-it SUV of the two, Toyota’s FJ Cruiser. Kudos to them for kinda harking back on the old school design and chassis code too.

I’ll go with the FJ with out hesitation The people at Toyota are in the SUV and off road business since the 50’s with their first Land Cruiser back then Nissan was non existent Sorry NISSAN but reliability and expertize takes my vote here TOYOTA any day.

I would take the Xterra out of the two. But, if I was to offroad something, it would be neither. If I wanted something to drive on the street, it would be neither, and if I wanted something to do both…well it would be neither. The FJ is the most worthless vehicle on the road. You can’t fit people in it, you can’t fit anything in it. I out wheeled one with a stock Jeep. No thanks. I choose neither in real life and the Nissan for this.

I’ve been in both offroad, and the FJ Cruiser handles much better and has better wheel clearance in the wells. But I live in Vegas, and the Xterra is the better vehicle to cruse around in on the Strip. The Fj Cruiser is more purpose built while the xterra is more for economy. Okay, I’ll go with the Nissan. Offroad is what I have my F150 for.
