I love import cars (not the ricers) but hyundai has NEVER been one of my favorites. I mean common, they have a 3.8l v6 that produces 306hp? That sounds a bit underpowered commin from a 3.8l. And does anyone else things it looks like the old Tiburons? Those things were so ugly I want to use it as a toilet. I mean sure you’ll have some pretty good brakes, decent hp, and a car that is sure to win a bunch of awards, but hey! At the end of the day you’re still driving a HYUNDAI…

Mchart sweet car, liking the yellow more and more… You are the first on the forums to be highlighted by CD so that’s pretty cool too. :)

If anyone is interested there is a great Genesis community at the Genesis Forums (http://Genesisforums.org). One of the largest on the ‘net and already a large vendor base including shops from Buschur Racing, Vivid Racing, TurnInConcepts, Rhys Millen Racing and more.

theyre not bad looking cars, i mean hyundai did a good job with it considering all the past cars, but they hype theyre putting into it and the fact that theyre trying to say it outdoes the G37, 3Series and mustangs? cmon now hyundai.
Nice car, but they need a reality slap

The reason as to why I got automatic was a no-brainer for me. It’s the same 6 speed produced by ZF used in the BMW 3 series. It shifts faster then any person can, is light, and can take the abuse. Being that the car is also my daily driver is a big reason as to why I got the automatic as well.

the body is and hp is about all it has going for it. the name is whats going to be the issue. i dont know anyone that would buy this car and spend money to put into a hyundai. if you ask me its a beefed up tiburon. i’m an import driver, (350Z). so i wont take sides. i think a mustang gt would walk this car all day long. i see the younger crowd getting this car and throwing ugly, pointless mods on this. then i will laugh. because its a hyundai.

The American muscle cars will own this poser!!! I hear it’s supposed to compete with the ‘Stang, but you can’t take on an icon with blan looks and poor performance. The GT will own this car, and now that the Camaro’s out, Ford will only be stepping up thier game.

american cars are still built in america too so don’t lie ppl just got ignorent and being a fucking douch bag for buying this import shit. they dont got nothing good and never will have nothing good.

I bet this car doesn’t need to sell 100,000 units first year to stay afloat. and as far as price, this car is supposed to hang wit the v8′s in the game.

For the money you would spend on this, there is a lot more I rather be having.

They should have called this vehicle the:

Revamped and Improved 2010 Tiburon

they messed up the grill but other than that theyre really nice cars. i dont know why this dude got an automatic thats gay. the 4cyl turbo engines are almost identical to the lancer evo’s. hyundai built it with the intention of being an extremely tuneable car, down to the pcm. all you ignorant fucks talking bad about foreign car companies are too funny. keep jobs in america? where do you think most japanese cars are being built today?? most american cars are built in canada, mexico, or australia. and they put themselves in the position theyre in today.

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine was looking at the Hyundai Sonata – 2007 car of the Year……I asked the salesman about the 2 Door Genesis coupe!

I think it is the first rear wheel drive Hyundai since the Pony – anyway, 304 HP., V6 rear wheel drive…..see the YouTube video’s.

People think of Hyundai as something from the mid 80′s like the Pony…..they are the 5th largest auto maker in the world, maybe 4th in a few weeks….the car my friend was looking at is made in Alabama….I would buy the V6 Camaro before the 2 Door V6 Genesis coupe for one reason, it is about five grand less!

By the way – Hyundai is also the largest ship builder in the world, so they must be doing something right!

It looks like it has a wide Scion Tc front with an Infiniti G35 rear. Just because its an Hyundai doesn’t means it sucks;it just wouldn’t be my first choice for an automobile. For what its worth, Hyundai has come a long way. I’m not sure what this car is suppose to compete with. I know its not the new Nissan GTR. Maybe it’s comp. is the Scion Tc, Honda Civic or, whatever little 4 banger???

This car looks much better in person. Its a head turner for sure. As for the comment Tiburon reinvented, yes it shares some looks from the Tib, as this car will replace it. But thats when the similarities end in the looks dept, performance wise its a whole different story. For people that say its still a Hyundai, thats just being ignorant and its pretty sad.

hyundia actual got some balls and decided to build a rear wheel drive sports car i give them props it took them long enough though but i wish the tiburon would also be rear wheel drive that would be great

RavenAegis45
Apr 28, 2009 at 12:15 am

well the theory is simple, Makes cars that look cool, And People will buy, Which is what Hyundai seems to be getting better at. I’m sure though this isnt the going to be the only “Light Weight” RWD cars to be appearing on the market. It is fiarly Impressive though definitely worth paying attention to

Is it just me, or does the Genesis coupe’s design look a little passé? The side profile is nice, and the rear end looks pretty good, but the front end doesn’t do anything for me; the sedan does it for me more. Kudos to Hyundai nonetheless for making a proper, longitudinally-mounted, rear-drive car! As far as comments pertaining to this Hyundai taking on the a Roush or Shelby, well that’s simply asinine. Those cars, like Shelby’s GT500KR’s is $79,995 while the Hyundai is, well, not. Personal I think spending $80k on a tweaked ‘Stang is f’n retarded anyway as it’s still rolling on a $20k chassis rather than anything purpose-built (can we say, aluminum-frame Z06?).

Are some of you people so blindly brand loyal, so indoctrinated into this “Buy American or Die” mindset that you can’t even at least acknowledge a good car—or at the VERY least a good-faith effort—that’s not flying the Red, White & Blue? I’m hardly gizzing over this car as some auto editors seem to be, but I’ll admit it’s darn nice.

Oh, and as far as it not having the torque the V8 Mustang therefor it automatically loses is bogus too. Case and point, my 260hp/260lb-ft Sky Redline going toe-to-toe with an 240hp/160lb-ft Honda S2000: I just BARELY out edge them and I have 100 more english-system twisty units (and more weight and taller gears). I’m not saying a ‘Stang couldn’t whipe the smerk off of a Genesis coupe owner, I’m just saying that it’s silly to say lower torque = automatically losing.

Now, talking economics, leojmcca brings up an excellent point. If Korea wants to play the high-tariff, psuedo-protectionism game, then I too would say screw ‘em until they are willing to play fair. By the way, playing fair does NOT equal paying their employees the same bloated waged our UAW workers get as: 1. The economics, currency exchange rate and living standards are different and 2. UAW workers get paid MORE than what a free-market would really allow as their work shouldn’t earn those wages in my less-than humble opinion.

They call this the mustang killer!!!! Which mustang can it kill……..the v6? Even though its 306hp and light weight, it still can’t touch a V8(315 hp and 325 tq)cuz the Genesis has shitty torque. I wonder why they won’t go up against the Roush or Shelby. Let’s see the Genesis kill that dammit lol!!!!

its nice but if I get a sports car I couldn’t buy a hyundai, they should stick to more affordable everyday cars cuz thats their major selling point. IDC how nice they start to look would never buy one

Korea has a high almost 100% import tax on american cars entering their country. We should do the same to them.

Well all I have 2 say here is Hyundai is taking the car building business seriously and it shows with this sport coupe is gorgeous and sexy what a great design inside and out the fact that the base one comes with a 2.0 Turbo with rear wheel drive and the latter comes with a high power 306 horses pretty cool this thing even comes with Brembo brakes go Hyundai.
