Doheny Woods Woodie Meet

What better way to celebrate one of the icons of California’s surf culture than to head to Doheny Beach State Park in Dana Point and take in more than 200 woodies of all stripes and types. Although dominated by more than two dozen early postwar Fords–Ford’s breakthrough car introduced in 1949–there were many different types of woodies on display ranging from hot rod woodies to the wonderful and rare examples like a 1953 International Harvester R-140, quite possibly the largest woodie ever built, in this case, a special build for the US Army Corps of Engineers.
