Your Ride
Chris Borrelli
Modifying a 2001 Ford Taurus often presents its challenges, and often makes me a little more than angry. Setting aside all of that, I love my car. My car is literally my best friend. It’s something that I constantly think about, and spend a great deal of time with. The thing I like most about my car is that it is my way to just leave reality, leave all problems behind and not worry about anything. Everyone has a special reason they love their ride. What does your ride represent to you? Is your ride a haven from everyday troubles, or is it a way to show your personality?

Well my 96 CAPRICE 9C1 has all of its antenna and even the “function” spot light. I will be keeping them on it. even after the 22′s and paint are done. I will be the only one around the chicago land area that I know that will have a COP car rollin with fresh paint, sounds, 22′s, 3 antennas, and a spot light. I dare to be different.

My ride represents me as a person. It is shiny, fun, and peppy. I love getting in my car, turn up my dance music, open my sunroof, and let down my window and ride through Midtown, proud of myself and my car!

My ride for the most part is just my way to relax, gently gliding through the gears or savoring that its one of the few cars made in the past 10 years with rear wheel drive that cost under $20 g’s initially. For some reason, I want to sell her and get something more economical and easier to park quickly but after all the hard work and dedication i’m not sure I can let her go that easy.

My rides are my escape and part of who I am. Cristina, my beater, is a ’93 Spirit. She’s slow, but loyal. Been through alot with her: High school, college, and now the military. I have tons of stories with her, and every drive yields a new one. Cristina’s older sister is a ’92 Spirit R/T named Lana. Other than looks, the two share little in common. Lana’s fast, very fast. The first time I drove her, I almost ended up crashing into a barn. She doesn’t like cruising. She wants to go, and got away from me alot in the short time before I took her of the road due to a bad rod bearing. She’s in storage right now awaiting my return. I also own a ’66 Mustang c-code ‘vert named Chloe. Chloe’s getting restored. I want to have her done in time for special occasions and summer cruising, not to forget a few stoplight drags here and there.

I’m glad to see you’re blogging. Mine is part of me, part of my personality. When I’m with it, nobody bothers me, nobody tells me what to do with it. I, and I alone, know what it can do, what it has done, and I can tell you what it will do. It begs to be fixed and driven, it pleads for a loving home. The more I get to know the ins and outs of it, the more it feels like a human being to me, a child waiting to learn and do and see the world. It has its aspirations just like I do.

It’s my sanctuary and my escape. Whenever i feel like it i take the car out for a spin and it clears my head. i don’t have to think about anything except driving. it’s a sort of therapy actually.
My ride isn’t really an extent of me, it’s all the things i am not: extravert, flashy and fast. It completes me and is always on my mind. thinking of fixing the small problems and coming up with new plans.

My car is my escape. I just drop the top and let my worries and frustation fly away in the wind. Plus, the car is definitely an extent of who I am. Like you, it is always on my mind, and new ideas are constantly brewing in my imagination…

My ride represent the one thing that is mine! Nobody can tell me what I can or cannot do with it, It gives me a sense of accomplishment everytime I walk away I look back just to admire my hard work, not to mention the money I’ve put in.
