GM May Leave Detroit?

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

According to new General Motors CEO Fritz Henderson, it’s a distinct possibility that the company could leave Detroit as all options to save the massive company are being looked at. It seems that bankruptcy is a guarantee at this point and once this mess hits the courts, look out.

GM leaving Detroit may not be as big a deal as it once would have been as the company has been “leaving” Detroit for over 20 years as it has gradually degraded to the precarious point it sits in now.

Just to prove that this is not a hoax, here’s a link to the story laying it out.

I heard that even “priceless” is moving to China.

I think chinese-made GM cars will pretty much be the line I won’t cross.

I can’t even get a garden hose nozzle that’ll last a month anymore, but when I was growing up we had the same nozzle for about 20 years. They’re all made in friggin’ China. I’m tired of buying crap. The dish washers, last maybe 3 or 4 years. Even the diodes and/or voltage regulators in rebuilt alternators quit often within the 1 year warranty.
-
…and Chinese cars! We’ve seen what they do on their own, so under GM’s production the cars may look familiar but I have serious, serious doubts they’ll pass muster.
-
no… that’ll be the end for my allegiance. I tend not to buy foreign and a domestic name made in a foreign country, ESPECIALLY China ends it all.

Time to add GM to the “made in China” products list.

WOW…I never really thought about GM leaving Detroit. Since they bought their headquarters, I never thought they would leave, just maybe downsize more. Yes, they have been downsizing slowly, but this would still be a big blow to so many businesses in downtown Detroit. As a Detroiter, this is a bit scary on one hand, but then again I want to say good riddance and may the door hit you on the way out.:(
