Do-Luck X Bulletproof CZ4A Trunk
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
I’m extremely grateful for the support of this trunk project from MOST of the community. As readers of this blog already know, this trunk was one of the first products that Bulletproof invested in to develop. This trunk was never going to exist but we paid Do-Luck Japan’s R&D costs to build this trunk for us because we felt that the US market would enjoy it. And so far many people have!
At the same time there are still some people that just don’t get it…I just read 11 pages of posts on a message board about this particular client’s car and the trunk in particular. There were at least 5 people asking for someone to make a knockoff of the trunk. Are you serious? This trunk was not going to even exist because Do-Luck is already hurting from the knockoffs and they obviously don’t have the R&D budget to do so many new projects these days. I went ahead and helped them pay the expenses (removing their risk to make these trunks) just to have people ask for more knockoffs!? The Evo community needs to become more aware of what is going on with this industry and what these particular people are doing to it. Continue reading at The Real JDM

I don’t know why anyone would call this rice, RockstrMentality. Rice is making a car look fast when it isn’t, stupid and extreme body kits/wings, stickers for parts you don’t have, etc. Subtle, tasteful visual upgrades are part of a well-built, well-rounded modified car, with a healthy amount of performance, handling, and cosmetic.

Are you people serious? its a damn trunk!
i can understand making a big deal out of a stroker kit, a killer turbo kit, even pistons or a nice cam. but a trunk? wtf has the car world come to? even a performance oriented car like an Evo is subject to being riced. Even though the Evo X definately needs some help in the visual area

come on cardomain u can find something better to post on your site than this i mean if Do Luck was not such a useless company that charges so much just because there name is on it they wouldnt have these problems COMPETITION IS THE HEART OF THE WORLD

May 24, 2009 at 5:36 pm
thats how business works dont charge to much for ur part just cuz ur name is well known. if it was not for your so called knock offs or known by normal people as a different brand then we would be paying AEM $1000 buck for an intake its called competition thats why there isnt just one car on a race track. A tru good company can withstand the other brands and make there part better and more cost effeciant besides any moron that knows a little about fiberglass can make that trunk

I agree with most people, its a damn trunk! If I wanted that trunk I would look for cheapest and effective one available. Hell if someone makes the same exact one and sells it cheaper why not! Dayton started Wire Wheels(dont quote me), but look how many different companies sell Wire rims. If it’s cheap and still serves the purpose why not?

Well maybe the people that buy these knockoffs also buy the new Vork and Ravs wheels:

The trunk lid is not special idiots. The fact that it was even made is special. Do Luck did not plan to make this trunk lid because the inevitable knock-offs would prevent them recouping the money for the R&D.
But if you knew how to read, you would have known that…

Man can somebody please tell me what is so special about this trunk???? I must be lost or something because I don’t know what the big deal is. As far as knock-offs, who cares……….bottom line. If you can afford the real deal, go for it……..but for those who aint got the money……do what you do as well. For those who spend the high dollar money and are mad when they see fake ones…….KILL YO SELF BECAUSE U MUST BE PISSED THAT YOUR STUPID ASS SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON IT AND SOMEONE ELSE GOT IT CHEAP. Deal with it.

I was reading this blog so I did some research the trunk is priced at $1,080 the way the economy is people just don’t have that much money to throw around on a super style trunk now if the same company made another one out of fiberglass for half the price then I would see a problem but right now I just don’t its basically your saying if I bought 50″ plasma off brand for $800 to a well known brand for $1800 which one are you going to buy the point is that Do-Luck should make both a carbon fiber trunk and also a fiberglass trunk for people who can’t afford it

In defence of the knock-offs, There are a lot of talented people out there that can take a crappy fitting trunk and work it over rather easily and have it looking like a million bucks with little effort….so my question is why would they pay more money for something if they dont need to…I for one wouldnt pay out the ass for tuner “anything” but thats me Im a Domestic car guy, doesnt mean I dont like tuners, their just not really my style….knock-offs arent ruining the industry in my opinion the industry is ruining the industry with their ridiculous prices so you can go out and tell all your friends”ooooohhhhh I got a JDM part on my car….and your point is??? personally I dont get it, now if your buying a supercharger or a turbo kit etc then yeah you want the real deal not some cheap imitation but come on guys…bodyparts…really??? who cares unless the shop you take it to is going to charge you out the ass to make it look right and fit right then your better off going with the real deal but if your a body guy and its nothing for you to work it out here and there then I totally see going with the knock-off….Remember to, some of us dont make $200,000,00 a year and cant afford to drop thousands of dollars a week into our rides and when we do save up some money its hard to drop it all into say a trunk lid….or a hood thats still going to need to be painted and such….I can go order that expensive “real-deal” fancy trunk lid that fits really nice but Im still going to have to get it painted and that isnt going to be cheap so you see I totally understand why people go with knock-offs they are affordable and usually dont require a lot of work to make them fit or look good and that keeps us average joes able to stay in the game and still able to feed our kids and keep a roof over our heads…LOL….Just my two cents worth…thanks!

I totallyagree, if your not going to buy Legit then dont buy at all, why do you think Veilside doesnt make any body kits for low cost cars and are just building High End Model kits, becauseof the knock offs. Plus most knock offs are built pretty crapily and fit like crap, but as they say, you get what you pay for

Would the oem wing still fit on the trunk??? I like the wingless look but what happens if i wanna use the oem wing for the track or something???
PS. Response to GTwildfire, NO its not bulletproof. Im pretty sure that just the brand. Search Bulletproof S2000-> Google

i love the trunk, the knock offs tho… is bs. if your gonna do it save up and buy the real thing instead of buying the shit end of it and put all of these amazing companys out of work. do-luck and greddy and all the higher end brands put out HIGH quality parts and the only way they can do that is by US buying them, our funding is what makes them keep going.. eventually there will be no parts to even knock off of cause there wont be any advancements… its a shame.

Its a shame that people are so willing to screw over the company inventing all these mods just to save a buck on something that won’t be half the quality, and even if its the same quality we should be buying these things from the people making quality products and pushing forward technology. If for no other reason but for the simple act of self preservation. This economy is in trouble now because companies are cheaping out on everything and we just roll over an accept it as correct and continue to buy crap products from rip-off companies. We are driving the good companies like Do-Luck out of business by supporting these knock offs. At this rate, one day those cheap knock offs are going to be known as “good” products because we just come to expect less and less for our money. Tisk tisk America, we can do better!

I like it. Looks really clean. as for the knock offs. You get what you pay for. Buy this one and im sure it wont crack or flex like a cheap knock off will. I have bought a cheap Fiberglass cowl hood before and after about 6 months the paint started flaking, and the fiberglass was cracking. After a year the area around the hinges completely broke. Garbage. If I would have just spent the $100 more I would still have a nice cowl hood on my truck lol and a nice paint job. So as the ole sayin goes, you get what you pay for.

saw this posted on speedhunters before i got a chance to check your blog, and think it looks absolutely amazing. im so sick of the knock off obsession -_-….if people are so passionate about cars, as they say they are, then why the hell purchase items which could, inevitably, kill off the big brand names that started everything? I’m all for small businesses who make their own, quality product, and if it looks like a knock off then i guess thats different…but to straight up ask for knock-off, cheap, non-quality items? just goes to show how many posers there are out there.
