K9 Camaro

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Hey, I can’t say it any better than the guys who built the K9 Camaro ride page!

The Sacramento Sheriff K9 Association recently restored a 2002 B4C package CHP commercial enforcement vehicle into a Sheriff’s K9 vehicle. We changed the hood, rims, and color scheme to black and white. We added LED’s all over including the hood scoop. The vehicle is a fully functioning patrol car with radio and in car computer system. The K9 can actually ride in the back! To see more pics or to check out our dogs in action visit our website www.SSDK9.com

corporate – what difference does it make rather its a camaro or not, any K9 unit no matter what kind of car it is can’t transport people, so why does that matter? also the dog does have room to walk around, just not as much as a 4 door, the whole back seat is for him, guess you’ve never seen the inside of that gen of camaro, ya its not much room but its enough, plus im in NC and the NC state troopers used to use that same Gen camaro and they’re bad ass, and jsut so you know, ya cops use , helicopters, road blocks and all but you still need ground units so arrest the people once they do stop, also how you know they won’t use it? i bet they will, your jsut hating on cops cause you probably think they’re against you, funny how people hate cops but whenever shit goes down the first thing they do is call the cops for help, kind of hypocritical ain’t it

only in california…why would they restore that car? i understand cali has a lot of fast cars and sometimes you might need a few more horses to end a chase but thats what roadblocks and helicoptors are for…besides the dog can barely stand in there with the hatch open when its closed he prolly has zero space to move…and what happens when that officer does arrest someone?? they just put the guy in another cruiser anyway they obviously dont sit him shotgun right next to the cop…we have a late 80′s corvette similiar to this in Boston except its the D.A.R.E. car they dont actually use it…this seems like a big waste of money to me

the car looks to me like someone made it at home, i dont think too many police departments are ridding around with gloss black chrome lipped racing rims on them. idk what they are but they obviously aren’t stocker camaro wheels, besides camaros have been retired for years, they have all been replaced with chargers or mustangs. sweet car, i’d love to have been at the auction the sold it at!

oh for white boy calm yourself and look at it for what it is…its a badass camaro that if you saw coming would scare you shitless…not to mention the giant shephard in the back with an easy exit hatch haha…so its a great car, its awsome and i love seeing different cop cars, its good to see a change, but if you want to complain about tax money then bitch about welfare on a website that care…our police station just built an avalanche and it hauls…i think the camaro is awesome

WTF! Way to waste the tax payers money you losers(again), I doubt this thing gets any road time let alone ever have a dog sit in that tiny little hatch. I would hate to see what kind of money went into this, and what kind of 2002 camaro needs a “resto”?? This thing makes me want to hurl…i hope its just a bad joke. Do cops really deserve a camaro just so they feel cool while arresting people? Get a crown vic, caprice or suburban like all the normal pigs out there and give that dog some room!!! BARF!

Take off that K-9 vinyl on the rear part of the Camaro and it look’s like the same one used in the movie “THE MARINE” By John Cena. That was a Kick-Ass car.

Nice to see the police have another tool to help them bond with the younger generation. (just as long as no taxpayer $ was used) :)

I’d rather get pulled over by a Camaro cop car than probably anything else… if I had to get pulled over. Good stuff! Kudos to the Sacremento Sheriff’s Department for retrofitting a F-Body; it looks difficult to situate the police paraphernalia with the gear lever in the middle so props for the extra finigy-ness to make it work.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys! Although its a legit emergency vehicle with radios and computers we use it for school and community demonstrations. The dog doesnt spend much time back there except for to and from. There is more than enough room for the pooches with the rear seat removed and they all lay down and enjoy the ride.

The car was completely redone with donations by auto body shops and parts shops. No tax dollars! We’ve heard that one before. Our non-profit pays for the gas. Deputies donated their time over 4 months to get it done so give us a break :)

The kids dig it and the adults too. Well worth the time and effort to get it done.

Glad you guys enjoyed it…..

The dog doesnt look like it can even fit if the hatch were closed. How much $ does a Police force have if they can restore a 2002 Camaro equiped with fancy rims and all.Oh well, I guess cops think they can be cool to. I hate this style of camaro btw, I figure this body style was the reason why they stopped making them for awhile, ugly!

In a car the camaro will get ya… on foot the K9 would get ya. Now were screwed either way. Just have to bust out the tank with a steak launcher to distract the dog.

i agree with quickzcav the dog has to lie down when the hatch is closed. just use a tahoe for k9, jesus christ. it would be sweet if it was a highway cruiser.
