Enzodude has been circulating around the internets for a while now, but I didn’t know there was an entire site devoted to him. Awesome stuff.

Norman Phelps is hoping to be invited to the Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge. His tough Fox body was NASA SE 2008 American Iron season runner-up. Check out his ride page, and if you think he deserves to go to VIR in July, rate him up!

Wild Pony Hits the Wall at Irwindale!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

When’s the best time to have a bad launch at the drag strip? If you’re about to say “never,” maybe you should think for a second. Seriously, wouldn’t it be better to be a few car-lengths behind your opponent if his ride is going to suddenly veer into your lane at triple digit speeds? Yup, I thought so. But all kidding aside, this wreck looks pretty scary, and demonstrates just how fast things can go sideways—literally—when you’re going for broke. The thing I found surprising about this clip was how slowly the Mustang drifts back over to its side of the strip. I guess I expected more of a ping pong effect.

goldRush Rally: San Francisco to Vegas in a Weekend

By Ryan Porter

IN-N-OUT Editor

Participating in a rally is a dream of mine. Last year I was very close to joining the US leg of the Gumball but things fell through. I watched John Coyle go on the Bullrun last year with Mr. Angry and he came back with some amazing stories. Rallies are the ultimate automotive outing and they are growing in popularity.

One such rally that’s right around the corner is the goldRush RALLY being put on by the Luxury4Play crew.  The rally is a threeday event that will shoot from San Francisco to Los Angeles and then over to Vegas.  The event kicks off on a Thursday and wraps up Saturday night in Vegas.  If you’re an average Joe like me, you can literally take a couple days off work and participate in a kickass rally in one short weekend without jerking the girlfriend around or shipping cars here and there.

So you’re probably waiting for me to tell you that I’m going, but the truth is I’m not, but our buddies over at NorthWest Auto Salon are and you can expect some awesome coverage from Blake.  No word on what car Blake will be driving but I’ve got a feeling the Ariel Atom will have a chance to stretch its legs!

Infiniti FX50 Kills the BMW X6 on CarDomain

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

This one wasn’t even close. The FX50 AWD absolutely murdered the X6 xDrive35i on CarDomain in this week’s Showroom Showdown. I think it might have had something to do with the Infiniti’s 390 hp V8. Some people were wondering why I didn’t put the FX50 up against the V8 Bimmer. Simple: the V8 Bimmer costs a lot more. Anyway, we’ll try to get back to enthusiast cars next week. If you have any suggestions, leave a comment.

It’s Getting Grim: Your Daily Cash For Clunkers Update

By Dan Strohl

Hemmings

We pretty much knew the answer to yesterday’s question of whether Congress will pay attention to the grassroots opposition to cash for clunkers. Of course they won’t, and of course they’ll steamroll this legislation right through any roadblocks on the way.

Reading today’s news reports from the Detroit Free Press, Canada’s Globe and Mail and Edmunds AutoObserver, it appears the cash for clunkers legislation will indeed be separated from the Waxman energy bill – either in a standalone piece of legislation called the Drive America Forward Act or as part of the emergency spending bill, as reported earlier – and skip the House entirely, going straight for the Senate (if attached to the emergency spending bill). Perhaps the most frustrating thing about recent events is that we haven’t seen any legislation officially introduced by Congress since they announced the compromises with Barack Obama last week; instead, they’re trying to shuffle it around in a game of politics to get it enacted as fast as possible to please their buddies in the auto industry, thus disallowing any real chance for the American public to understand and comment on it. NASCAR Investigating a Large Drop in TV Ratings

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

It seems that NASCAR’s television audience is vanishing at a rather rapid rate and the sanctioning body has put some super sleuths on the case to find out why.

It’s being reported that each race of the 2009 season has seen a decline of viewers by at least 10 percent over the same races in 2008. NASCAR officials have said that they are looking for all the possible reasons and how they can address them.

We’d start by undoing all of the crappy decisions made over the last 10 years, but that’s just us.
