Biker Runs Red Light, T-Bones Cop
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
In the Freshman, there’s a great scene where Matthew Broderick says; “there’s a certain freedom to being completely screwed.” But far more often than not, there’s no benefit to being completely screwed, and that goes double if you’ve just blown a red light and t-boned a police cruiser with you motorcycle. Ouch. All this guy can be thankful for is the fact he’s going to walk into the slammer under his own power, instead of being rolled in on a gurney. In all seriousness though, I’m always amazed when bikers collide with cars and escape unscathed. I’ve had several friends who’ve been involved in car vs. motorcycle incidents, and none were in any condition to ride for weeks—and sometimes months—afterward.
Note To Self
Atomicalex
“Turn traction control off” reads the note taped to the dash in this Mustang I spotted at Grattan this weekend. Not a good idea in the rain, but when the sun finally came out, it was good advice.

Isetta Hits the Autocross, Nearly Tips Over
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
If you’re familiar with the specs of the Isetta microcar—three wheels, anemic two-stroke engine, nonexistent crash protection—you might not think it’d be the best choice for autocross. And guess what? You’d be totally correct! From this clip, I can’t tell whether this is a BMW model or one of numerous other versions made in Spain, Belgium, France, Brazil, or Britain. But what anyone with functioning eyeballs can see is that it goes up on two wheels while navigating one of the turns, and that it’s completely hilarious. Hopefully the little commuter didn’t sustain any damage during the ordeal.

This would make a pretty good commuter vehicle for Ryan. Totally murdered out. Maybe he could convert it to biodiesel. The reserve is met with over a week to go. Check out the auction for all the details!

Smooth Operator
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
The ‘smoothing’ or ‘shaving’ of cars is very popular in Belgium. The idea behind it is to get rid of all the excess material on the outside of the car like the emblems, door handles and side moldings to clean up the overall look. This Mk1 has a completely different feel than the yellow MK1 I posted last week . A large part has to do with the 16″ wire wheels. They fit snuggly under the modified arches especially when the car’s air-ride system lowers the car to the ground. Continue reading at Speedhunters

Top 11 Best Ever Race Car Paint Schemes
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
Modern race car paint jobs can’t hold a candle to the classic, care-free stylings of generations ago. There were classy, subtle schemes, and gaudy, loud, attention-grabbing hues slathered down the sides of cars all across the country and at all different kinds of tracks.
We were talking to a pal recently and got into a good debate over the best looking paint jobs on cars from years past. Here’s our top 11; many came from the dragstrip, but there are several genres of racing represented here.

Honda's Electro Gyrocator
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Way back in 1981 while I was rocking out to Back in Black on my Walkman, Honda came out with the world’s first in-car navigation system. Basically, you selected the relevant plastic map, stuck it in the machine, placed an X on your location and then a gas gyroscope measured the car’s movement and plotted out your course. Pretty cool, huh? Full story at Honda.com
