Bedliner GTI

I soooooooo dig this! VWVortex poster mr_e1974 was in need of a respray on his 2001 VW GTI, but why take the usual route? He got in touch with the owner of the Rhino-coated Audi John blogged last October, and voila! Custom tinted bedliner, dood! Never fear the rock chip ever again. It turned out totally rad, especially with the extra pearl pigment in the paint. More pics after the jump!

Cool Air Filter

By Ron Honig

WaytooFurious

One of the more interesting things that I saw on Sunday at the All European Day, was this air filter setup on an Escort. It looks weird but I think it is cool. I like it because I have never seen anyone else take this approach before. Have you seen any weird air filter set-ups lately?

Caption Contest: This Week's Winner!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

As much as I hated to see this brand-new Caddy all smashed up, I totally thought this pic was hilarious. And while this week’s entries did feature some pretty funny variations on the hood ornament theme, none of them really got the job done. When it came down to decision time, there were three that really stood out—I almost gave it to you, ccrraazzyybbeenn—but I had to follow my gut. This week’s winner is 05blackout, who came up with; So, explain to me again how accident forgiveness works? Congrats man! Stay tuned for the next installment of our not-nearly-drunk-enough Caption Contest!

Road Trip! Beautiful Queens, NY to Hilton Head, SC and Back!

By Mike Musto

RideLust.com

I’m feeling kinda bushed right now as I just got home from a 2,000+ mile road trip to South Carolina. Before my departure I was thinking about what car to take, my 1968 Charger or my 1997 Mercury Villager AKA “The Danger Van.” Honestly, I had reservations about taking both cars. The Charger has been stone reliable all these years and there really is no reason that something should go wrong, but it is 41 years old compared to the van’s youngish 12 years. Plus, the Charger has no A/C. Then again, the van has 130,000+ miles on the clock, and in reality was bought just to haul parts around for $2,500. But I do do all the maintenance on it religiously and it has cruise and A/C, so I figured what the hell.

Rally Car Rolls 15 Times!

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

Rally racing is cool stuff with cars flying through the air and hurtling over all sorts of terrain at high rates of speed. This particular car happens to be driven by the crazy nut Travis Pastrana. Travis apparently hits an undulation in the road incorrectly and launches this car into a series of rolls like we have never seen before.

The in-car cuts are wild. Note that the driver and co-driver are talking to each other before they even stop rolling. We can only guess that the co-driver may have had some reservations about climbing into that car again.

Pastrana has literally jumped out of an airplane without a parachute so this may not rank that high up on his scale of death defying feats, but for mere mortals like us, it tops the charts.
