Should I crush my ’88 Volvo? Ryan already wants to crush his van. The Senate still gets their turn, but it looks like this is gonna happen. Full details at Jalopnik

I don’t know what everyone is complaining about. I love the idea. Being that I just got rid of my 97 Fireturd in good condition with 102,000 miles and only got $2500 in trade at Carmax. I could have gotten a lot more with this deal, I don’t give a crap if they crush the POS or not!
They are not going to force you to crush your vehicles. Whether they are nicely resored or a complete POS. This agenda is to get the crappy cars off the roads and recycled. You know the ones I am referring to. The oil leaking, smoking POS that is in front of you burning your eyes with it’s noxious smoking, with the busted tail lights blinding you with white light when it supposed to be red, etc.

Both of my cars are pre-1985, so it doesn’t apply to me. I’m bummed. But I don’t think I would just let them crush my ’76 AMC Hornet Sportabout Wagon….I would cry….

Sounds like a step in the right direction. They can’t take cars made before 1985. You only have to increase the MPG of your car by 4 and you get $3500 ($4500 if you increase it by 10 MPG). I guess I don’t quality since I get about 40 MPG!
