i live in ford country. have driven a ford for eons. last car was a 97 exploDer. i've spent more money keeping it breathing than car payments would cost on a newbie. love the look of the fusion, especially black. great ride, great fit. lots of power. a bit pricey to get the bells and whistles. find the dealers to be arrogant. i need stability and traction foremost, and didn't care for the older subaru yawners with the unframed windows, but kept test driving both subarus and fords. this w/e, spouse and i tried out toyota's (they had nothing aside from old cars w/new car price tags). ford's were out of stock and not willing to honor the clunker deal for lack of timely gov't reimbursement. ... and then we stopped at a subaru dealer. spouse and i caught site of a black 2010 subaru legacy and i swear i heard the angels singing. it came equipped with everything we were looking for, and then the test drive. i was amazed at how much it compared to the fusion - tres solid & stylish inside and out (note - fake wood indoor trim is butt-ugly on the top model but the premium was debomb). i was surprised to find it had a porsche-style engine, boxer pup didn't sputter, hugged the road, didn't suck gas w/it's 4L CVT (better mileage than the fusion), i found it a comfy ride w/plenty of room in the 2010 model's back seat, fit a 6 ft. 220 lb man comfortably, rode quiet, wicked good punch for the on exits, handled bumps w/ease; loaded with safety features, heated seats standard, plenty of compartment space, cell phone and ipod ready. ... we had to ask ourselves, "what are we doing with a Fix Or Repair Daily - money pit?!," that we start once a week with jumper cables and tow at least twice a year? a no brainer. signed the papers on the legacy premiere this morning and won't look back. yea, we've been kicking tires on the fusion for 3 years now, and it only took us a few moments to see we've got a winner here. before you compare apples to oranges, check out the 2010 legacy; it is NOT the subaru you nay sayers think it is.
