guess he’ll soon find out what the color yellow smells like.

Shark79
Jun 22, 2009 at 11:18 am

Dumb! And the WRONG kind of “paint” that just wears off after using during ‘break-in’ to expose the brake surface,Its going to clog up the calpers, which will greatly affect braking power, and the 1st time he uses them he’ll plow into another vehicle

stupid ppl need to stop breeding!!

Viperklr
Jun 22, 2009 at 10:47 am

Actually that isn’t such a bad thing… i would have choosen and Alum. or silver for the color, BUT in 5 min of driving the pads will wear off the paint where the pads touch the rotor.

The Alum. or silver looks nice because it is close to the right color of the bare metal and the rotor won’t rust.

Wrong color, not a bad idea…

“Ahh,.. the rotors are done now all I have to do is paint the windshield to match”

Biggee72
Jun 22, 2009 at 4:25 am

It’s not even the fact that the brakes are painted. On the vette you can’t really see through the rims anyway.

umm Krylon paint = nono lol use high heat paint thats just gonna peel even the parts that anrt on the contact points good idea just bad execution of it lol paintng the rotars deos seal them from rust but krylon paint was stupid itll smell really bad not to mention just peel in a week as for the cantact points itll just rub off which is wat i think the guy wanted todo anywayz… cheapo ftw

RED_RUM_N_BUD

Jun 21, 2009 at 11:17 pm

LMAO….IDIOT…HE PAINTED DA PART WERR DA BRAKE PAD ME DA CALIPERS!! LOL….ONCE HE LEAVE DA DRIVEWAY, DAT YELLOW GON CUM RITE OFF

wsbob
Jun 21, 2009 at 10:36 pm

I’d do that if I had rims that made my brake calipers visible from in between them

70zcamaro
Jun 21, 2009 at 9:14 pm

actually, brake companies sell their discs like that and the paint at the contact points is worn off within 20 min of driving, and then it looks pretty cool. its good just as long as paint didnt seep into the cross drilling or slotting if there was any. that’s where the problems would occur.

4Wheelin_Forever
Jun 21, 2009 at 6:27 pm

Everyone in this blog is talking trash about this guy for no reason. How many of you have actually painted your calipers. drums, and rotors? The paint on the contact points is gone within 2 seconds of braking! Do some homework and quit talking trash people.

hotrod_heven
Jun 21, 2009 at 3:35 pm

This is not to D.O.T. standards!

alexisonfire_50
Jun 21, 2009 at 10:06 am

I did the exact same thing to my mustang roders. The paint wears off first brake application. Check my site out if you don’t believe me. It stunk for 5 minutes. Not a terrible thing to do. And where the brake pads dont apply it leaves a nice colour edge, looks good. So I dont know why this is such a big deal??

EricShoHo
Jun 21, 2009 at 9:39 am

red rum n bud is right…the paint will wear off of the contact points with the first rolling brake application, and stay in the slots…so this is not terrable!…sure it will stink for a little, but after that hes going to be alright…should have put on some c6 wheels though

Cavalier2200sfi
Jun 21, 2009 at 9:38 am

Next time try covering the part that contacts the caliper :)

RED_RUM_N_BUD
Jun 21, 2009 at 8:33 am

lots of haters out there but think the paint seals the slots and wears off only on contact points with the caliber why he didnt paint the cailber also and lose the factorys who knows…

orangemty
Jun 21, 2009 at 7:48 am

and … how are u going to show them off with that original wheels?
jajajaja

so stupid

1_eyed_bob
Jun 20, 2009 at 10:07 pm

No its that new colored metal they came out with.. k wait no I take that back, thats just stupidity. The paint might make the brakes a little more sticky though ..

michaelnsusan
Jun 20, 2009 at 8:07 pm

why paint them if you cant see them, the rims cover it all. stupid all around.

droid2
Jun 20, 2009 at 6:18 pm

i know it looks stupid painting your rotors but it is true they rust realy quickly so if you paint them it helps a little bit my mate did it only he didn’t paint them yellow he just painted them silver

lancer113
Jun 20, 2009 at 5:24 pm

wow! who said all vette owners were smart? what a dumb ass even if he did it the right way u cant even see the calipers lol!!!

kingbobby80
Jun 20, 2009 at 4:14 pm

no guys, this vette also has a flux capacitor…he went to the future where they have yellow metal and got these duh

two4rider
Jun 20, 2009 at 3:11 pm

you people realize ebc brakes come painted black and the coating wears off the first time you break. its to prevent rust on other parts of the rotor that isnt a contact area..

Enigma00017
Jun 20, 2009 at 3:07 pm

WOW..just wow.. dang and wow.. maybe just dang.. I would like to see what they look like after a drive around to see what the pads look like :-) Other than that nice vett. FYI if you paint the car mask the windows It’s not cool when u have matching windows.. Do like the car though :-)

pttransamdriver
Jun 20, 2009 at 12:57 pm

At least he did a real clean paint job, to bad he’s not the brightest, I hope he doesn’t race with the paint in there. :later with a date in the car “hey do you smell something?…” (missed caption contest here)

HOP_2000
Jun 20, 2009 at 12:22 pm

There’s nothing really wrong with what he did. A lot of people paint slotted and drilled rotors because they rust like hell when they get wet. The paint gets inside the hols and prevents the rust. The remainder of the paint will simply come off when the brakes are used for the first time.

rejybaby
Jun 20, 2009 at 4:37 am

All the owner needs now is some of the popular sticker vents to match. Wait paint the insides yellow to match the rotors. Ok led and asbestos poisioning anyone?

bleu3000gt
Jun 20, 2009 at 2:28 am

The paint will be gone off the rotor where the pad touches after his first trip around town. What is the problem here again? Is it that the wheels cover the rotors completely or is it that he used yellow paint? I’m sure he painted them knowing that the pads will remove the extra paint. It will look fine after he drives around.

RockstrMentality
Jun 19, 2009 at 11:41 pm

FAIL!!
He was probably doing this on purpose, but its still a fail.

matthewsike
Jun 19, 2009 at 9:23 pm

your supose to get the rotors turn after you paint them so it looks like you bought them that way thats what lots of show car people do not to say that its a show car but thats the right way to do it.

David4550
Jun 19, 2009 at 9:08 pm

Jun 19, 2009 at 8:00 pm

Hahahaha.. c’mon fellas..do you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to go pick up some masking tape?!?! LOL
I also agree and wonder..why he painted the rotors anyways with the factory rims concealing them totally..
Someone probably said to this dude.. I’ll give you $100 to paint something on your car bright yellow ..and you have a hour to do it ..startinnnnnnnng NOW! …..S**t ..no tape?!..F*ck It..!!!

The_Cordia_Kid

major fail… 1) painted rotors, duh. 2) put painted rotors on a car with rims that don’t even show them, duh. 3) yellow with a silver car, duh. 4) scrap your front end on the curb as you park, duh. 5) must be catchy, neighbor has different rims on the front and back of his thunderbird, duh.

funny how you see people doing this alot, thankfully some reazlize an sand off the contact area. but for a corvette? come on, be better to upgrade to C6 rotors an calipers then to waste time revamping a C4 brake system.

oldscoob
Jun 18, 2009 at 3:33 pm

Aside from the rotors, there is a dremel tool on the ground plugged in. Assuming the scratching noises got irritating. he ground down the indicator to destroy the rotors before never knowing the brakes were bad, after the paint flamed its way off thier first use.

gold94corolla
Jun 18, 2009 at 3:29 pm

This is called domestic rice. His next step is buying a turbo wing, 7 spoke wheels, and dropping yellow neons under his car to match the brakes.
