You Never Forget Your First Time!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Not including stupid, burnout-related accidents, this is one of the dumbest motorcycle crashes I’ve seen. Sure, the rider in the frame might have come in too hot—hey, it’s happened to me—but the guy on the camera bike? What the hell is he thinking? If his buddy is obviously wrecking, why exactly does he follow? Of course, that’s not the only problem here. In following his buddy, the camera guy avoids being hit by a GMC rounding the corner by what looks like inches. It’s not clear who’s “1st Time Down” this is, but let’s hope there were some lessons learned.

The lead guy took it smart to the ditch vs fight a defense move with GMC. Regardless, when you assume, you will be fkd.
This just doesn’t happen in the village twisties in Europe.
They all respect each others space to the utmost. In all the months living there on a R1, I never saw one accident, or a reported one.

Sadly, you see motorcycle riders crossing the centerline all the time around here up in the mountains. Most of the time, the hammer falls on an empty chamber, but that doesn’t make it any less stupid.

i think they thought it was a hairpin corner but it was a fairly sharp corner & they come in to wide & saw the GMC & paincied & i guess the grass looked like a soft spot.it’s still funny

slid on mud, water n grass? lucky bastard. Probably little or no injury and hopefully a lot smarter after that.

I lost it 6 times and was the luckiest person I know of, back in the day when I had bikes. Had three of em, went down on the first two, 5 on the first and one on the second. 5 times because of slick conditions, once because I was an idiot and took a 750 street bike into the woods.

I wont get another bike cause I’m certain I won’t be as lucky anymore. 8 of 9 lives used up.

my buddy just tango’d with a mason dump on his 929RR and lost. but the mason was blocking his lane, saw the bike coming round the bend and decided to pull foward into the oncomming lane for some stupid reason leaving no room for my friend to get around. my friend decided to dump the bike and aim for the “soft” spot on the mason dump, which would likely be the door. He’s estimated to have hit the truck @ 40 MPH with his body. He’s going to be ok, but his fractured jaw is wired shut and he dislocated his hip and needed a surgery to remove bone fragments from his hip.

I guess the camera guy wanted to follow through all the way. I hate to see that the towel is the blame. Camera guy looked like he got most of the truck grille footage.

And They both blamed that little towel in the road I’m sure…not their inability to ride a motorcycle at a whopping 15mph.
DUDE..did you see that HUGE pile of junk in the middle of the road I almost hit??! I know dude..it got me too…..lets go to starbucks

Ya know, for both of ‘em to go off like that, there HAD to be something in their lane just after the blind spot on the corner that made them both take the short route off-road. I can see that it was a 20 MPH curve but neither rider really appeared to go into the corner all that hot.

I ride, and thats like watching a horror movie right there. They lucked out all over, by avoiding the truck, going slow enough to counter there turn, and landing in wet grass. Yikes
