Atkinson Takes Out Telephone Pole in Ireland

Ok, across the pond, they call them telegraph poles, but no matter what they’re called, I’d think that a high-speed collision with one would render a car inoperable. But somebody apparently forgot to tell World Rally Championship driver Chris Atkinson that, because even after his Citroen C4 took out a telephone pole during a WRC stage in Ireland, he was able to keep going and manage a 10th place finish. Huh? What the hell do they make telephone poles out of over there? Balsa wood?

imagine that little tin can as oem hittin that pole. when “b” rally days tricked the minds of retards into thinking peugeot and audi were oem champions, I clearly remembered as a young teen, that those cars had to be identified as being heavily modified…and not even remotely close to oem suicide. I am rather glad I learned it. Seriously: some young people didn’t.I suppose watching evos with thier ricer claims of 500hp and a young punk at the helm on the side of the road with a fire or wrecked one is the way they get told today. The scariest part of growing up with this: today they are even less steel and more plastics…claiming big power in drivetrains that should be banned from Earth forever. It is kinda funny, my neighbors have a pair of focus “RS”..it makes an 87 sube a tractor trailer in comparison…and they are both claimning the same realm.

YeaH yEAH They’re called utility poles, electric poles Phone Line Poles….OVER HERE in ‘Merica. Damn Rednecks….(Me too…Im a hick myself…) But over there, they call them Telegraph Poles. Go with it. If Atkinson hit one of OUR poles be they Electric, Utility or otherwise, he wouldn’t have finished the race. Damn pole woulda took the front end of the car completly off!!!

he hit the side of the road. He actually hit the dirt, which up lifted the thin pole. Not a typical size pole.

That suck’s Dude. That’s why I hate driving on wet roads. It takes one split second for you to lose control and you could be in one major accident. At least no one got hurt, and the Rally car didn’t get damaged to bad.

god dammit they’re UTILITY POLES telephone and cable companies don’t even set their own poles anymore and their not the only system that uses those poles…
